It had been entirely too long since Pippi had made entirely too many pancakes.

Actually she never made too many. People always showed up to eat them.

And the left overs were always delightfully ready to eat cold from the fridge.

"Mornin' Pippi," Cally said, wandering in, rubbing her eyes. "Ooooh, pancakes."

"Mornin' Cally." Pippi said, then looked down at her grittle. "Geehosiphat! They are pancakes!"

Cally giggled. "I hope you weren't tryin' to make something else."

"I'm just going to smile and nod and secretly cross out where it says 'pickled herring' on the recipe card and write 'pancakes' over it."

"Hey Billy," Cally said with a wave.

Walter wandered in after an unsuccessful attempt at sleeping in and immediately put on a pot of water.

"Morning."

"Morning." Pippi nodded flipping some flap jacks. "How are you this morning?"

"I'm good. I have a day without classes and I studied last night, so I don't have to do it today." He found a cup and sat to watch the pot. "How are you?"

"Hey you," Cally said with a wave. "I almost got your present ready."

"Oh yeah." Walter smiled and finally got his watched pot off the stove. "I had such a good birthday, I wasn't thinking about presents. You can always wait until next birthday."

Walter sat down and had a sip of the tea he'd taken two conversations to make made. "Morning, Billy. How are you?"

Lyra wandered in to the common room, yawning, but her eyes brightened at the sight of food. She hadn't partaken of common room food since she made omlettes, so she figured she was about due.

"Hullo, Pippi." She said courteously.

"Hi," Cally said with a wave. "Lyra, right?"

"That's me." Lyra paused, biting her lip. "I'm afraid you'll think me frightfully rude, but I've met so very many people over the last three weeks. You're, uh, Cally, right?" Lyra vaguely remembered a girl who wouldn't eat her omlettes.

"Hi there!" Pippi said waving a big wooden spoon.

"Would you like any help? I'm crap at pancakes, but I can make a mean pot of tea." Lyra grinned at the redhead.

Lyra waved back, her mouth full of pancakes. Her fork objected to being swung around and dripped syrup on the back of her hand. Lyra muttered an expletive and licked it off not dirty.

Then she looked back up at the boy and waved again, this time without the fork.

Billy stopped in at the fifth floor common room on his way up to the roof. "Mornin' all."

"Hi Billy! Have pancakes."

"Yes ma'am." Billy smirked. God he was going to get fat here. He took two pancakes and garnished them sparingly with a bit of butter, and a very little bit of syrup. Sure he planned on working these calories off later, but why over do it?

It had taken Togusa about a half an hour to get showered and dressed after the return of the mini tachikoma (http://section9-togusa.livejournal.com/5385.html?view=40969#t40969) and he was starving.

Waving as he came in, with Mint (As named by Pippi) he grinned "Okay, I'm ready for some chow."

Mint looked around at the new people and bounced. "Hello!"
