The roof, Thursday afternoon

In order to show the people that she whined at yesterday that she was much better now, kthnxs (and to give Blair a chance to apologize, omg!), Nadia was stretched out at a jaunty angle on the roof with her legs propped up on the edge of Bel's garden, guitar in hands, playing something warm and cheerful at the cool, gray sky.

. . .

Shut up. Dar Williams could so be cheerful.

Every now and then she'd pause to partake of the thermos of coffee or box of chocolates she had with her.

Blair figured that was a better response that he could have hoped for and he walked over and took a seat on the ground. "Um...hi."

Nadia sighed. "Hi."

"Do you mind if we talk?"

"That depends on what you're planning to talk about."

Blair rubbed his head for a moment and shrugged. "I wanna apologize."

Nadia sighed and sat up. "Thank you. I shouldn't have shoved you into the wall, either. I'm sorry about that."

"I forgive you." Blair nodded. "I shouldn't have said what I did. I don't think ...that of you, Nadia. Really."

"It was just . . . Bel's been calling me things lately, too. And to hear it from you. . . ."

"I don't know what's going on between you and Bel." Blair shook his head. "But I let my anger get the better of me yesterday and that's not cool. It started out with me trying to get you to see my side and..."

"I just really don't want to keep fighting with you."

"I didn't think we were fighting until you said that. I was trying to be the . . . you know, the person in a demonstration who does the dumber stuff?"

"All we do lately is fight. Or argue." Blair shrugged. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"I would have called them debates. I thought they were interesting. You don't believe in debating?"

"I don't mind debating, Nadia. But don't you get tired of doing it everytime we're around each other?"

". . . No. Do you get tired of preaching things to people all the time?"

"You think I preach to people all the time?"

"I think you've been doing it a lot, lately."

"...oh." Blair nodded. "Okay."

"It's like, you want to tell everyone your idea, but you don't listen to other people talk about theirs if they're not just like yours."

"I thought I was listening." Blair muttered and then he stood. "Listen, I've got to go...uh...study. I'll talk to you later, Nadia."

Nadia sighed again. "Blair, wait."

"No, seriously, we're cool." Blair tossed a wave over his shoulder and headed downstairs. "See ya later, Nadia."

"Blair," It was pretty obvious to Nadia that it wasn't cool. "Dammit," She got up to follow after him.

Blair blinked and turned, holding his hands out in front of him. "What'd I do now?"

"This is what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to be mean. Just . . . I think we're having a good conversation and then you're offended or calling me names and I don't know what's going on."

"I didn't call you any names, man." Blair said quietly.
