Chad gave the girl a nod and a non-commital, conversations, "What's up?"

"Halloween. Movies. Scaryness," Mac said succinctly.

Chad bobbed his head in a nod with each item. "All good things," he concluded.

"I'm Chad, by the way. Don't think we've met."

"Don't think we have," she agreed. "I'm Mac."

"Mac," Chad grunted in appreiciation for monosyllabic names. "Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meetcha too, Chad." She grinned and gestured at the TV, "You seen this before, or are you from another dimension where this doesn't exist or something?" She used to be a lot less blunt about asking that kind of question. Not anymore.

"Nah, I've seen it," Chad said. "Only, a long time ago and dubbed in bad Spanish. So it's still kinda new."

"Horror is always good, whether you've seen it before or not," Mac said shifting her feet under herself. "I mostly like to mock the unbelieveable effects, or their acting or the weird plot twists."

"Why not all three?" Chad suggested.

"That would involve multitasking," Mac replied. "Never been my strong point."

Chad nodded. "Yeah, same here..."

"Goes without saying," Mac said shrugging. "You're a man, after all."

Chad scratched the back of his head a moment. "Are males less capable of multitasking then women, then?"

Hey, he was head-scratching and talking at once. And breathing. That had to count for something.

"It's a long-running myth," Mac told him. "I've never seen scientific research to back it up, doesn't mean it isn't out there somewhere though."

Chad? Thinking about possibly running a psuedo-scientific experiment on the difference between male and female multitasking with his gender-changing boyfriend? Surely, you jest.

"Would be interesting to see," Chad said, a little bit of his thoughtfulness leaking into his monotone rumbling.

Mac is totally oblivious, and just nods. "Oh yeah... Oh, check out crazy psycho killer, nice mask."

"I think it's charming." Chad's monotone always made his sarcasm so cleverly hidden.

"Charming?" Mac asked, turning to him with a raised eyebrow. "Thats an opinion I haven't heard before."

"Adds a certain....mystery, don't you think? Girls like their guys with a little enigma, right?"

It was a little harder to keep a smile down on that one, but he managed.

Mac sniggered, "I like mystery as much as the next girl, I'm still not going to date anyone escaped from a mental institution."

"Awww. Then how ya gonna have any fun?"

"I have fun," Mac declared, and jerked her head in the direction of Cally just beside her on the sofa. "And she's not escaped from a mental institution. A big plus point as far as I'm concerned."

Chad followed Mac's jerk of head, and, yes, could put one and one together quite quickly in certain things. He let a grin pull slightly at the corner of his mouth. "Always a bonus," he said.

"Yup, I prefer to not get stabbed with knitting needles," Mac said. "Not my idea of fun."

Chad shrugged, shaking his head. "To each her own, I guess."
