Saturday Evening, Third Floor Common Room

"Stupid power," Dawn grumbled, lighting the candle on the table near her, then got up to turn off the television and overhead light. The power (at least in the common room) had been intermittently annoying all day, and it was back in the annoying period.

So she was now reading by candlelight and pretending she was Abe Lincoln.

Rory waves the hand holding the candle at him.

This blew the candle out. So then it was just a little Rory-voice saying, "Woe, dark."

"Oh noes!" Bridge says. "Whatever shall we do?"

It should be noted that he's holding a flashlight in one hand.

"Well, I have matches, but I'll need a light source so I can see to strike them," she says sadly.

"Hmmm," Bridge says thoughtfully. "Where would we find something like that?"

"Your hand?" Rory suggests as though this is a brilliant plan.

"Hey, how did that get there?" Bridge says, in a shocked tone.

"I don't know! But you should shine it over here so I can see to do this without lighting my hair on fire," she says, pulling out her match and attempting to strike one.

"As you command!" Bridge says, doing as requested.

Rory strikes the match and lights her candle. "Okay, quick, turn off the flashlight and come sit!" she says, bouncing a little.

"O...kay?" Bridge says, though he switches off the flashight and scoots a bit closer.

"Candlelight is romantic and I don't want light pollution!" she explains patiently, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"Oooh," Bridge nods. "Suddenly, it makes sense."

"Yes, I am a genius when it comes to lighting," Rory says seriously, and then moves her hair quickly before it can actually catch on fire.

Bridge politely refrains from pointing out that Rory's almost lit herself on fire, like, three times.

"You totally planned this, didn't you?"

"Yeah, I blacked out the island in the name of romantic lighting. I hope that's okay?" she says apologetically.

"Fine with me," Bridge shrugs.

"You're not the lights police too, are you?" she asks worriedly.

"If I were the lights police I wouldn't do this," Bridge says, and careful of the candle, leans over to kiss her.

"You could be undercover lights police, just waiting for the perfect time to arrest me in a more weakened and voluntary state," she whispers before kissing him again.
