Nadia was sitting upside down on the couch, munching on a chicken empanada and reading a book.

The adventures of six miss-matched characters across a make-believe world were surprisingly engaging.

"I'm good," Molly said. "Well, except for losing the swoop bike race yesterday. That kind of sucked. But, I'll win the rematch, I'm sure of it." She grinned.

"Definitely." Nadia blinked. "What's a swoop bike?"

"You're the second person to ask me that in a week," Molly said a little incredulously. "A swoop bike is like a motorcycle only it doesn't have tires; it hovers. Mine used to belong to Anakin."

Nadia blinked again. "Okay, that's totally cool. Who were you racing?"

"Sam Carter, Cam and Alec," Molly told her. "Alec won. I came in third."

"Who came in second?"

"Sam did. I was in the lead at one point, but we went through the preserve and I haven't driven on little windy paths enough."

"Well, see, that's totally not your fault. And would it be at all possible for me to get to try riding one, some time?"

"Oh, sure! Have you ever ridden a motorcycle before?"

Nadia nodded. "Yeah, I got some practice in on one when I went home this summer." If by 'practice', one meant 'spent a lot of time training to drive anything with a motor'. "Is it really similar?"

"It is," Molly said with a nod. "Both Alec's and Sam's bikes were converted from motorcycles. The biggest differences are the speed and how they turn."

"Well, they'd have to go faster, right? To stay off the ground. Do they have helicopter blades, or something?"

"Nope," Molly said. "They hover even when they're not running. I don't know how though. Some space technology from Anakin's home."

"Probably best not to ask, I guess. Still, that's very cool."

Molly grinned. "Really fun too."

"I definitely have to try it, some time."

"I don't have any classes on Wednesdays or Fridays and only one during seventh period on Thursdays. Just call me or come grab me in my room sometime when you're free and I'll let you have a ride."

"Not a problem at all," Molly said with a grin. "So what did you do this weekend? Were you on the Vegas trip?"

"Yep. I even won some money."

"Cool! Wait. Are you old enough to gamble? How did you manage that?"

"I have my ways. . . . And a number of fake passports, but don't spread that around."

Molly snickered then made a gesture like she was locking her lips and throwing away the key. "Did you have fun away from the casino too?"

"Does nearly getting into a fight in a strip club count?" Nadia grinned. "Yeah. There was a really nice dance club, too. Turns out? I kinda like mid-nineties techno music."

"Well, you didn't get arrested, so it couldn't have been that much fun," Molly joked. "I was born in the mid-nineties so I haven't heard a lot of that, probably."
