Nadia was sitting upside down on the couch, munching on a chicken empanada and reading a book.

The adventures of six miss-matched characters across a make-believe world were surprisingly engaging.

"Soooo boring," Angela said. She was still tugging on the laces.

"I'm tying your shoelaces together as an act of revenge."

"Well you could tie my shoelaces together but then you won't get my cheezy Vegas gift," Marty said with a smug look.

That got Angela to stop tugging on his shoelaces for the moment. 'Is it Liberace-themed?"

Marty grinned. "Well you did request glitter..."

"And cheez," Angela said. "Do you have it with you?"

"I might," Marty said. "Depends on whether or not you re-tie my shoes."

"That's blackmail," Angela pointed out reasonably, and gave his shoelaces another tug.

"That's not blackmail. I'm just requesting that you return my shoelaces to their original state of tied-ness," Marty responded also as reasonably.

"But, see, I'm seeing them from a different angle," Angela said, beginning to knot the laces of both shoes together. "So I can't tie them exactly the way you did. Unless I sit in your lap or something."

"Gosh. Well if you have to sit in my lap to do it right? I can't argue with that logic whatsoever," Marty said gleefully.

"I didn't think you would," Angela said.

She straddled his lap -- pausing for a second to nuzzle his neck -- and neatly re-knotted his shoelaces. "Happy?"

"Very much so. You ready for your gift?" Marty said returning the nuzzle with gusto.

"Always," Angela said. "I missed you."

"I missed you too," Marty leaning over to give her a kiss before reaching into his backpack to pull out Angela's gift (http://www.bobsliberace.com/decades/1980s/80s.image/effanbee1.JPG)/

Angela opened the doll and cracked up. "It's like my own personal glittery superhero."

"I think it comes with it's own candlabra and kung fu grip for fighting fashion crime everywhere," Marty replied giggling. "I take it you like it?"

":And a piano," Angela said. "I love it, it's perfect."

She made Liberace fly around Marty's head, sliding off his lap as she did so. "So what else did you do in Vegas?"

"Gambled. Ran around the city," Marty said with a little shrug. "Fun was had. Spent three hours looking for a Liberace action figure."

"Awww," Angela said, perching Liberace on her shoulder. "Did you win anything?"

"I won 30 dollars at the slots," Marty replied. "But I spent it on the world's biggest buffet. You'd love it there. Maybe we should go sometime on our own."

Angela's stomach did a little turn at the idea of the world's biggest buffet. "Maybe," she said. "It could be fun. Maybe as a last thing before graduation."

"We could have a road trip," Marty suggested. "Get a bunch of friends and head west."

"That would be really, really nice," Angela said. "We could stop in weird little places in the midwest or the south or ... okay, I have no idea how to get to Vegas from here. But it would be fun!"

"I think we just made our plans for Spring Break," Marty said leaning back against the sofa. "Or winter break, whichever you prefer."

"Spring," Angela said immediately. "It'd be kin of cold and yucky winter break."
