Cally was very contemplative. So far the reaction to her new powers weren't the rousing 'hurrah' she'd kinda hoped for.

So here she was. Popping individual kernels of popcorn, because she could. Plus, it was really helping with that whole focus and control thing.

Gelmoore Gals and Vanessa Saturn were on tonight, so those were sort of acting as a background to her popping efforts.

Anders was on his way down from a smoke break on the roof and just had to poke his head into the common room.

"Popcorn," Cally said. "Uhhh, air popped.

". . . one piece at a time?" Anders had that sort of facial expression that can only be described as 'Extreme WTF.'

"Yeah, I'm takin' it slow," Cally said.

Okay, 'extreme WTF' just reached a new high. "Taking what slow?"

"Popping the popcorn," Cally said, not trying to raise alarm.

Anders narrowed his eyes a little bit. He hadn't crossed his arms over his chest yet, though. "Okay, since when could you do that? And for frak's sake, why?"

Cally leaned over and sniffed at Anders. "You were smoking, weren't you?"

And now here came the crossed arms. "Yeah. So? You were just . . . doing something bizarre with popcorn!"

"My being a witch is totally more productive than killing myself slowly with cancer sticks," Cally said.

"What the frak? A witch? You? Since when?" asked Anders, completely ignoring the smoking PSA for now.

"Since yesterday," Cally said.

"Um, okay then." Anders took a moment to boggle over that, then burst out, "Yeah, well, if you want to do that, then I can damn well smoke if I want to!"

Not his most logical argument, that's for sure.

"Hey, Anders," Bel said. "What's up?"

Anders looked pointedly at Bel's neck and -- no, that wasn't a smirk. "Nothing. I'm bored, mostly. Ever since the weekend everything kind of seems less exciting somehow."

Bel pulled his shirt up over his bandages with a glare. "Well, I could shimmer you to Vegas and leave you there," he said.

"Not as much fun alone," countered Anders.

"That an invitation?" Bel said.

Anders snorted. "Oh, like you'd really accept it anyway."

"I'd say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but this place has proven that that isn't true," Bel said.

"I didn't say anything!" Anders said quickly. "Well . . . except to the people who asked . . ."

"Yeah, just who have you told, and what?" Bel said pointedly.

"Um . . . Nadia?" Anders might have started backing away at that point. "All I've talked about is the vampire show, okay?"

Oh, like he was mentioning talking to Parker.

"Better be the case," Bel growled.
