The Roof, Tuesday Night

Yep, it was that time again -- time to go up to the roof, smoke, and brood over what to get people for Christmas.

Okay, actually Anders was brooding over his conversation with Parker yesterday, but still. There was also Christmas-shopping brooding going on. Look, he could multitask, all right? Two kinds of brooding and smoking, all at once. There was even pacing back and forth.

Skilled, that guy. Really.

Anders chuckled softly. "I did offer you a ride any time."

"But we've still got that trust thing to work on," Bel said. "I'm sure you understand my need to be...discrete. But so far, so good."

"And I can keep it up," promised Anders. "Just watch."

Bel let his gaze drop meaningfully. "I bet you can," he said.

"You might be surprised," Anders said, his voice almost a purr.

"Not much surprises me," Bel said. "But I'm always willing to try...new things."

"Exploring's good," Anders agreed.

Maybe licking his lips just a bit.

"Not exactly unexplored territory though, is it?" Bel said. "Pity, but there is something to be said for experience."

"Got a lot of it, do you?" asked Anders, lighting up a new cigarette.

"Like you wouldn't believe," Bel said with a grin.

"They do say seeing is believing," Anders remarked. "Unless you want me to just take your word for it. I could probably imagine up a lot. Maybe I already do."

"Just what have you been imagining?" Bel said in a low voice.

"Wouldn't you like to find out," Anders replied in a whisper.

"Yeah," Bel said, his eyes narrowing. "I would."

Anders grinned. "You might have to convince me to tell you."

"And how should I do that?" Bel purred.

"You'll think of a way. It might be hard," Anders added, a little extra emphasis on that last word, "but you'll come up with something."

"And here I figured you'd be dying to tell me," Bel mused. "Now who's the tease?"

"Hey, just because I take it doesn't mean I can't dish it out too," Anders told him.

Bel snorted. "Now you are dreaming," he snickered.

"Aw. Never wanted to find out?" Anders asked. "Maybe that's what I've been imagining."

"And it's gonna stay in your imagination," Bel growled dangerously.

Anders snapped his fingers and feigned disappointment. "Damn. Oh well -- the other way around sure makes for a few nice dreams too."

"Keep playing your cards right and it won't be just dreams," Bel said. Of course, his hungry tone indicated it wouldn't be a burden for him, either.
