Peter was watching hockey.  Because it was a bit like football.  Only with skates.  And sticks.  And ice.  So not like football at all, but still fun to watch Dallas outplay Chicago.

He had popcorn and may have been muttering at the screen.  Not that he knew the names of either the players or the penalties.

Bridge wanders upstairs in search of people.

"Oooh, hockey!" he says, floppibg down on a couch. "Also, hi."

"Evening, Bridge," Peter replied with a grin. He offered Bridge the bowl of popcorn. "It's a brilliant sport I think. Rather like football. Only not."

Bridge grabs a handful of popcorn. "Except for the skates," he points out.

"Well, and the ice," Peter agreed. "But the strategy is similar."

Bridge tilts his head at the screen. "Okay, yeah. I can see that. Sort of."

"A bit. Maybe," Peter replied. "Or I might be looking into it too much."

"Also a possibility," Bridge says with a nod. "But they're both sports and they're both fun to play and watch, so that's good enough for me."

Peter nodded and took another handful of popcorn. "Have you played hockey then? I'd love to try, but I don't skate so very well."

"We had a team for a while last year," Bridge says. "I wasn't the greatest, but it was fun." He looks at Peter, considering. "Don't suppose you've heard of Lightball?"

"We should start basketball up again," he mused aloud. Peter looked up with interest. "No, what's that?"

"It's a kind of game that's really popular in my time," Bridge says. "You don't need a playing field or anything. In fact, it's kind of better without one. The ball is an energy projection, and you catch it with a special kind of glove," he explains.

"That sounds like fun," Peter replied with a grin. "Can we play sometime?"

"Yes!" Bridge says enthusiastically. "Totally, absolutely." He blushes a bit. "It. Uh. May be my favourite game."

"Dude. Hockey. Sport of the motherland. Sweet."

Jude sprawled over a couch.

Peter nodded. "Evening Jude." He offered him some popcorn. "Looks like Chicago's going to win."

Jude took a handful, tossing one up in the air and catching it in his mouth, munching happily. "Leafs aren't playing?" He sounded disappointed.

Peter shook his head. "I don't think so. They're only talking about San Jose and Minnesota and Nashville and Philadelphia. Are the Leafs your club?"

Jude nodded. "Yeah. Toronto Maple Leafs. This is our year, bro. We're goin' to take the drink."

Oh, Leafs fans. Their hope is so earnest and yet utterly futile.

"I hope so then," Peter said with a grin. "I've never watched the sport before, but I like it."

Jude grinned. "Hockey's like, the national religion back home."

"You're from Canada, right?" Peter asked, thinking he'd heard that. "You don't follow football?"

"Yeah," Jude said, nodding. "And I kinda follow it. I follow the CFL, but not the NFL, 'cause the Americans totally stole football from us and then made it easier."

"No, I'm sorry. I meant soccer." He chuckled. "Canada is part of the British Empire! You should call it football." He paused for a second. "Unless you're not supposed to say that about Canada anymore?"

Jude chuckled. "Ooops. Sorry, bro. Nah, don't follow soccer. And we still got the Queen on our money, so we totally still count."

Peter grinned. "Good, you always were part of the pink bits on the map. And football's brilliant. A lot of the strategy on the field seems to be the same as in hockey."
