Outside of hunting class: 7th Period

Blair was carrying both a sign and a petition today and he was very happy that to have his cast off for this sort of protest day. Marching back and forth before the door he chanted the message on his sign. "Education for everybody! Support the male troll scholarship!"

Every once in a while he would yell out; "Hunting sucks!" Just in case there was a rule about protesting random things in front of hunting class.

Nadia heard the chanting from some distance away, and was already rolling her eyes as she approached. "Oh lord, no."

"You don't want to educate the trolls?" Blair asked. "Or you don't think hunting sucks?"

"I don't want to go to school with trolls." Nadia gestured with her glove-covered hand to her brace covered shoulder. "They're the reason I'm still in this thing."

"Are you okay?" Blair asked, looking Nadia over. "I don't want you to be hurt and I'm sure if the trolls come to school here they'll have to follow the rules of not hurting people."

"But maybe it's because they aren't allowed to go to school that they're so violent."

"'m fine," Nadia muttered. "How do you know they even want to go to school? Maybe they're happy being dumb. Ignorance is bliss."

"Why wouldn't they want to go to school?" Blair asked, a little shocked. "Besides, it's not like I'm going to force them. I just want to give them the opportunity."

"Then they should get their own special troll school. And some people don't want to be educated. They just want to be what they are. Dumb and violent."

"You want segregated schools?" Blair blinked. "That's a little...uh...odd."

"They have different educational needs than we do." Nadia flexed the fingers on her uninjured hand thoughtfully. "From what I remember of them, they've got a lot to learn."

"So they might be a little slow." Blair shrugged. "That doesn't mean we should shunt them off to a different school. They deserve the chance to learn what we learn and maybe being around people who are more advanced will help. We can tutor them!"

"And when they get frustrated, they throw you across the lawn." Nadia's fingers twitched towards her brace. "Or try to eat you. Like they did to Pippi. Or hit you, like they did to Jude. Did you know he has a broken leg?"

"Uh...no." Blair shook his head slowly. "Okay, obviously someone will have to teach the trolls how to vent their emotions in a positive and constructive manner. But that's no different than a lot of students here. How many people here have the potential to really hurt somebody? If we kept dangerous students out then they're be nobody left on campus!"

"But we don't. Those trolls had no reason to attack. They didn't have any provocation. We didn't do anything to them. They just attacked."

"Maybe they just didn't understand?" Blair tried, although he knew very well that the girl trolls had understood what they were doing.

"What, that it hurt? Did you listen to the trolls? Did you hear them? Did you see them fighting?"

"No, not really." Blair shook his head. "I was sort of stuck inside all weekend."

"Trust me, then, Blair. You don't want them going to this school."

"So..." Blair held up the petition sadly. "No signing?"

Nadia shook her head. "Sorry."

"Worth a try, I guess." Blair said with a shrug.

She nodded. "Definitely. That's part of what I like about you, Blair. That you keep trying."
