Rory got to the common room nice and early right after Lit, and started blowing up balloons and hanging streamers.

By the time everyone would be out of class, she had the cake and snacks and drinks out as well, and there was a table to the side for presents.

Marie sighed. "I was home for a few weeks after Thanksgiving. Just got back last Thursday."

Kaylee frowned. "I'm guessin' you didn't wanna stay home?"

"Not so much," Marie said. "But I'm here now and that's what matters."

Kaylee nodded and grinned. "I'm glad you're back!"

Marie smiled back. "I am too. So are you all ready for the holidays? I did some ~~handwavy~~ shopping yesterday, but I am so behind."

"I'm sorta ready," Kaylee said. "Still got some shoppin' to do. Mostly, I need to get some things for the crew back on Serenity."

"Are you going to spend the holidays with them?" Marie asked.

"I might," Kaylee said. "Still haven't made up my mind yet. What are you doin' for the holidays?"

"I'm going to New York with Jamie for part of them and then we'll be back here for the rest," Marie said.

"Ooh! That sounde like fun!" Kaylee said. "You and Jamie still good then?"

Marie grinned and nodded. "Yeah, he's the best. How's things with you and Joxer?"

"Awww, I'm so happy for ya!" Kaylee grinned. "Me and Joxer are good, too."

"Good, I'm glad," Marie said. "How are your finals going?"

"'bout as well as can be expected, considerin' books are attackin' and such," Kaylee said, frowning.

"I know," Marie said, rolling her eyes. "I had to take a study break yesterday. Which worked out since I had shopping to do, but still. I have three weeks of catching up to cram in."

"If you need any notes or anythin' from Astronomy or Constant Vigilance, you can use mine if you want," Kaylee suggested.

"Oh, Parker gave me her Astronomy notes, but if I could get a copy of your stuff from Constant Vigilance, that would be a huge help," Marie said.

"I'll make a copy for ya then," Kaylee said with a grin.

"Thanks," Marie grinned back. "Do you think you can give them to me in Astronomy tomorrow?"

"Sure! I'll definitely bring 'em," Kaylee said.
