Dorm Roof, Monday Afternoon

Billy decided to spend the first day of 2007 on the roof. No particular reason, but the weather was somewhat to his liking. He'd set up an umbrella and was sitting in a lounge chair with a book, stereo, and bottled water.

"Hey Billy," Cally said, as she came up to the roof with supplies for her next batch of... whatever the latest term was she'd come up for her Viper booze.

"Hey Cally. Happy New Year."

"Happy New Year," Cally replied, setting her stuff down to start her work. "You're not up here to emo, are you?"

"Far from it." Billy assured her. "I had a good christmas, a decent new years, and I'm starting the year of 007 with a clean slate."

"You have a slate?" Cally asked.

"Metaphorically speaking."

"You erased your slate full of metaphors?"

"It was getting too full."

"So you have a year of new metaphors to look forward to," Cally said. "Good."

Still yawning a bit from sleeping in from celebrating two New Years, Chad decided to take Mizu out to the roof for one last romp before he lost the clever mobility device Ranma got back from Japan.

Huh. There never seemed to be a lack of people up here. "Happy 2007," he grunted by way of greeting, with another yawn and a scratch at his stomach.

"Back at ya." Billy said, and waved to the puppy.

Mizu bounced excitedly with a happy bark and went to go sniff at the heels of someone he didn't think he got to sniff at the heels of very much.

"What's up?" Chad grunted conversationally, as one should do when on the other end of the leash of a sniffing puppy.

Billy reached down to do the ear scritching thing for Mizu. "Not much, just figured this would be a decent way to start out the year."

Mizu totally loved scritches. His tail started wagging happily as he made happy little puppy sounds in his through while nudging into them.

"I kinda like the sleeping until about now-ish method," Chad admitted after glancing over the set-up Billy had.

"That's good too. Always been kind of an early riser though. Except on very special occaisions." Like when he was exhausted from battle.

Maybe it was that he had his dog, or it could have been the whole fact that he hadn't seen the guy in over a week, but that just made Chad wistfully think back on Ranma's morning speech on getting up early. "Yeah, you probably do all that training and stuff, too. M'not really into all that."

"It's not for everyone." he said, still scritching Mizu. "Plus some of us might need it more than others."

Chad nodded, thinking about his own physique that went along with never really working out much, but then that brought his thoughts around to Nadia and her little speech about him being a poor fighter because he never trained, which lead to him decidedly not wanting to talk aobut training anymore. So he just ended up grunting in agreement.

"Hey Chad," Cally said with a wave from where she was working.

Just as Mizu was interested in sniffing around ankles, Chad was interested in sniffing around booze. "Hey, Cally," he said, drifting over and taking a look. "...What're you workin' on?"

"My still," Cally said. "Gotta be ready when Mr. Lucifer needs another order."

Chad arched an eyebrow by way of expressing he needed a little more of an explanation, but his hair covered his eyebrows pretty effectively, leaving it to look rather like Chad hadn't reacted at all and was possibly just standing there like he hadn't heard her.

"This spaceship... it's no longer a space ship. It makes alcohol now," Cally said.

Chad inspected the skill as thouroughly as he could from where he loomed.

"That," he said after another long moment of nothing, "has got to be the coolest use for a no-longer spaceship I've ever heard."

Cally giggled. "Exactly how many used of no-longer spaceships have you heard?"
