Turtle felt as though her day had been very successful. She'd scoped out the town, gotten herself a job (starting tomorrow! How exciting!), and had picked up a total of two dollars and seventy two cents in change as she walked around the island. A very good day, indeed, especially since, she could tell from her handwavily grabbed copy of the Wall Street Journal that SEA hadn't continued to drop, and the one she was scoping had raised, but not enough that it wouldn't be enough for her SEA to fail to cover it in a few days. Looking pretty good!

Grabbing a bowl of cereal for her dinner, Turtle plopped out the couch, tucked her Journal beside her, and turned on the television. Now that she didn't have her mother restricting her TV time, she definately wanted to see what kind of channels they got here at the school.

Something about the new girl in the room caught Jim's attention immediately. It was probably the fact that she had entered the room. "Hi. I'm Jim. I'm new." And eloquent.

Pam smiled and waved to him. "Hi. I'm Pam. I'm new, too."

"It's always good to know that I'm not alone with newness," Jim said. "But I just got here, so I think I might be even newer than you."

"I got here yesterday," Pam replied, raising her brows. "You're even newer than that?"

"I got here about three hours ago, so I am right out of the package, mint condition new," Jim said.

"Wow. I'm a seasoned vet compared to you," Pam said.

"Yep. I'm still in boot camp in this comparison," Jim said. "The drill sergeant is tough, but fair, fortunately, so I'll be up there in no time. Probably even another day or so."

"Oh, but then, I'll still be a day ahead of you experience-wise," Pam noted.

"True. But the difference will even out as we approach infinity," Jim said.

"That'll be awhile, though," she replied. "I promise I'll be nice to you in spite of my superior rank."

"And I promise that I'll try not to be insubordinate," Jim said. "That could be tough, though. I have a knack for polite insubordination."

"So polite I might not even spot it?" Pam asked.

"No, you'll spot it. Possibly not until I apologize for it, though," Jim said.

"I'll just wait for the apologies, then," Pam said. "So where were you before today?"

"I was at home," Jim joked. "Which is in Massachusetts."

Pam smiled. "Aw, you're even further from home than me. I'm from Pennsylvania."

"I've always wanted to visit Pennsylvania," Jim said. "Wait, so I win at both newness and distance from home? I am surprisingly awesome."

"Don't let it go to your head," Pam advised.

"Sorry, I already have. I am officially a superstar in my own mind," Jim said. "But with how fast this is going, by tomorrow morning I'm probably going to crash and burn and be in rehab."

Pam nodded seriously. "I'll visit you and bring you craft supplies so as to pass your time in rehab without further harming yourself."

"I appreciate it," Jim said. "Just make sure the popsicle sticks aren't likely to give me splinters, if you don't mind?"

"Well, that makes you the best Pam ever," Jim said, kinda dorkily.

"Wow, I feel so honored," she said, smiling. "I mean, I could be an awful person and you're already locked into that judgement."

"It's a judgement that I think will turn out just fine," Jim said. "You really don't give off an awful person vibe."
