Marie realized that she hadn't met any new people yet. She had seen the signs for Anders and Nadia's party, but she didn't think she was ready to be quite that sociable yet.

So she settled in to the common room with some pizza and the season one Wendy the Werewolf Stalker DVDs that she had picked up ages ago and never watched.

"Sorry?" Conner apologized. "It's a little safer than 'hello new cute girl,' though. Usually that one gets me hit over the head."

"I meant the whole 'Wendy is hot' thing," Cassie teased. "Though the cute line does when you back some."

"Well, she is!" Conner pointed at the screen as if it demonstrated his point. "It was really distracting when I got in."

"I wouldn't know," Cassie said. "Hi. I'm Cassie."

"Hey, Cassie, I'm Conner," he replied. Then, because it was pretty much required, "With an e-r."

"Got it," Cassie said. "Is there a Conner with an O-R?"

"Nope," Conner said, tapping himself on the chest. "Just me. Genuine article."

"So you don't have a twin here," Cassie said.

Conner shook his head. "Not here, nope. I mean, I do have a twin. Elsewhere."

"Like, actual twin, or freaky Alec-Dean twin?"

"Actual older-by-a-few-minutes identical twin. We are so nothing alike, though."

"Ahhhh," Cassie said. "Right then. I'll keep that in mind."

"You shouldn't need to. It's not like he's here," Conner assured her. "But on the really off chance? I play soccer, he inline-skates. And he's a wannabe ninja. I'm -- not."

"Nope, not a ninja. Just a -- well, a former superhero, I guess."

You never knew how that was going to go over with the new kids, but hey.
