Perhaps he was feeling generous, perhaps he was feeling suicidal, but Balthier had handwavy purchased groceries to make omelettes for himself and anyone else who wanted some. There wasn't anything odd in them, at least not by this world's standards, so Balthier was fairly sure that no one would be grossed out.

He flipped on the television the standard evening news, just to have background noise, but he wasn't really watching it.

Cassie nodded. "Yeah, the whole 'dating Teddy and Jude' thing kind of makes a date a bad idea."

"I know," Chad grunted a little with a slight wince. "Now. Didn't click at the time. I...do that a lot. Not an excuse, I know, but...I realize it now, an' I'm tryin' to fix it. So, uh, no date. Even if I did threaten to punch you."

"Still want to go get ice cream?" Cassie said. "Just as potential friends?"

Chad ducked his head in a bit of embarrassment. "That's...kind of what I thought it was, but, uh, it was pointed out to me that I was wrong."

"Well, now it is," Cassie said. "My fault for the misunderstanding."

Chad shook his head. "All mine," he insisted.

"I'm the one who asked you out, remember?" Cassie said. "You're just the dork who didn't mention the dating Teddy thing. "

"Wasn't exactly thinkin' about that when you asked," Chad said, rubbing the back of his neck again and completely unawares that he was probably not helping his case very much at all.

Yeah, there might have been a bit of a blush underneath his dark skin. And Chad was also thinking that this conversation was going nothing like he had planned it out in his head, and it wasn't helping him establish a 'no dating Cassie' restriction.

Chad nodded. "Totally platonic. 'Cause you're Teddy's friend, so I wanna know you better."
