Fourth floor common room, Sunday morning

Dean was in the kitchen making breakfast for whoever happened by as he occasionally was wont to do. Hunter was with him, stalking across the back of the sofa and sniffing curiously inbetween the cushions. The tv, thankfully had been dispossessed of whatever weirdness that had had it playing pirate porn the night before and Dean had it tuned to nothing more provocative than some music videos.

All in all it was a fairly cheerful morning.

"Marco. And I definetly didn't see your robot on Thursday."

"That's one person down," Luke said with a grin. "Only a few hundred more to ask. I'm Luke, by the way. Luke Skywalker."

"Nice to meet you. And I'm sure that given a few more years you will finally discover what it was your robot was up to last Thursday." Marco paused. "Have you considered asking him?"

"I did," Luke said, "but he won't tell me."

Artoo blatted something incomprehensible and zipped away. Luke rolled his eyes. "Sometimes he's completely impossible," he complained.

"That's kind of awesome." Marco said, following the robot with his eyes.

"He has his moments," Luke said, smiling. "So, new kid or just someone I missed seeing last semester?"

"New kid. Very new. So new I jumped seven years."

"Jumped seven years?" Luke repeated. "So you were...younger or older before you came here?"

"I was 15 before and after coming here. Only Gray Davis is still the governor back home and Schwarzanager is governor here." For some reason, Marco found this hilarious.

Luke blinked. "...that doesn't really help me," he said finally. "I'm from a different planet."

"I'm from seven years in the past. Which one?"

"Tatooine. Different galaxy entirely." Luke smiled ruefully. "Completely skippable."

"Never heard of it." Marco said with a shake of his head. "There's a lot of planets out there, it's kinda of cool. Until you realize that for some reason only the really crapy ones come to Earth. The species, not specific people."

Luke smiled. "You should see the inside of a Mos Eisley tapcafe," he said. "More species than you'd ever know what to do with, all drinking, listening to random music, and getting into fights."

Luke had only been allowed inside one, oh, twice, but he was pretending to have vast experience in such matters.

Luke grinned. "It depends on what species decides to pick a fight with you. Some of them will rip your arms out of their sockets, and that's just them getting warmed up."

"Yeah, I can see that. So what's the weirdest thing you've ever seen?"

Not that he was going to share that.

"This planet has white milk," he said instead. "Totally bizarre."

"What color is milk supposed to be?"

"Blue, of course," Luke said firmly.

"Of course." Marco said with a perfectly straight face. "So what color are the cows then?"

"Milk doesn't come from cows," Luke explained. "It comes from banthas. Sometimes nerfs."

Luke raised an eyebrow. "I'm feeling like I'm being mocked."

"Why would I ever do that?" Marco totally failed at looking innocent.
