The Roof: Sunday night, well after dark
The Beast was crouched on the corner of the roof, looking out over Fandom.
Half hidden in the shadows and the night, he was brooding - dramatically - and also for some reason humming under his breath.
Two days, and his life had changed dramatically -- because of Samantha.
It was unexpected. It was inexplicable.
Without really noticing, his humming segued into song. (Because the power ofDisney narrative can not be denied.)
She glanced this way, I thought I saw
And when we touched
She didn't shudder at my paw
No it can't be, I'll just ignore
But no one's ever looked at me that way before.
If he'd realised what he was singing, he'd likely be horrified.
[ooc: open, as roofs are, but you'll probably need to get his attention. Lyrics twisted slightly. ]

" 'Cause I've been all around the grounds here, and I haven't been able to find any herds of gazelles or other stuff. My Dad said that I should practice my pouncing skills on something." He looked away sheepishly. "So I did."

"I'm Simba!" He puffed out his chest a little. "The future King of the Pridelands!"

"Just the Beast? You don't have a real name or anything?" he asked.

"Just the Beast. I used to have a name, but I've forgotten it."

"You're Welcome! I still have a long way to go if I want to be as good as my Dad, though. He's the best."

"There was a large lion in the park yesterday morning. Was that your father? He had a very impressive roar."

"That was my Dad! He's the greatest lion in the whole world!" he said. "Hey, what's your Dad like? Is he as hairy as you?"

He tried to bite his tongue on the second thing that came to mind, as it was probably rude to make comments about somebody's Mom.

"I hope you have good luck with that. If it doesn't work out, you can always try shaving a lot, right?"

Simba rubbed his head against the Beast's leg in thanks for all his advice, and then trotted off to go hunt for something tastier.
