Fifth floor common room, Wednesday evening

Nadia had set herself up in the kitchen with a large pot full of a watered-down mix of black ink, dye, and latex paint, and lots and lots of newspaper.

She was currently attempting to get the stuffed, winged pink pony into the pot.

"No, no, it's lots of fun, I promise!"

"It doesn't look very nice or happy or friendly," the pony would reply.

"Just get in the pot!"

"Why don't we play Candyland instead?" asked the pony.

It wasn't going well.

Anders's eyes widened in terror as one of the Pyramid-player figures perked up at that. "Wow, I could go for a barbecue," it said.

"Fire up the grill!" chimed in little plastic Chase Utley.

Anders glared down at them. "You guys! Knock it off!"

"Oh. Oh." Annette stood stunned then she crouched before the little guys.

"You can't roast him. He's stuffing. He'll only burn. Besides, he's mine."

"You heard her," Anders said sternly. "Beat each other to a pulp all you want, but no eating other people's toys, got it? This is my fantasy league, and I'll see all of your pro careers ended if you even think of it again!"

"Oh, screw you," snapped a surly slugger whose tiny bat looked like it had too much pine tar on it so not dirty. "I don't need this. I'm gonna go play in Japan."

Anders snorted. "Yeah? Enjoy the swim, then. Try not to get too lost on the way."

Annette looked up at Anders, grinning, then looked back at the plastic sports guys.

"Such a filthy mouth for a little slugger." She said, reaching over to pluck the tiny bat from his hands. "Ew."

"He's a baseball player," Anders said resignedly. "For his size, that's actually about the right degree of dirty."

Annette could only nod and hand the bat back. She stood up and gave him a wry grin, "I think I would rather hear my pig growl at me."

"You get used to it after a while," Anders said with a shrug, "if you're into the whole sports life, but . . . yeah, I can see how that wouldn't be your thing."

"I'm a cheerleader. That's considered a sport, isn't it?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-01-25 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
"I never really thought of it as one, but . . ." Anders considered, then gave her an apologetic smile. "Okay, yeah, I guess it is. Congratulations on making the squad, then!"

She grinned. "Thanks! And I rollerblade too, but they turned into chocolate cream pies yesterday and unfortunately they never turned back."

Annette thought for a second. "If rollerblading is even a sport. I don't know. I play tennis!" She said hopefully.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-01-25 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Really? We don't have tennis in the Colonies," Anders said, interested. "So I don't really get the scoring, yet. I like watching it though. It seems like a really fun game, but I don't know if I have the time to get into a new sport when I'm supposed to be training for Pyramid. Sucks about the rollerblades . . . you gonna get new ones?"

"I haven't played since last summer and I don't know if they offer it here," she said with a little shrug. "Yeah, most likely I will buy a new pair. Have you ever tried it?"
