Third Floor Common Room, Late Afternoon

Alec was having fun with the knitting thing - three dildo cozies and now he was working on a scarf in green and black. It didn't hurt that it was really just memorizing how to do the stitches and then letting his mind wander (or watch TV, like he was doing now) while it put itself together.

Plus, the yarn he was using was really fuzzy and soft.

"Yes, thank you!" Dawn threw her hands up in the air and got up off the couch. "And Sam'll kill me, if he finds out I said stuff about our private life to Alec, of all people."

Still she was internally gleeing about the fact that she had a private life to talk about, not that she was going to mention that.

"I'll talk to Alec, see if I can't get him to be a little more discreet." Dean paused. "Might be a hard sell though. He doesn't really get a lot of the taboos about talking about sex. As you might've noticed."

"I think it's not so much the fact that it's sex, so much as it's me talking to Alec," she made a face.

"Yeah, well, Sammy needs to get over that grudge as much as Alec does," Dean all but grumbled.

"Oh, I'm not saying he doesn't," Dawn admitted, "but me talking to Alec about stuff probably won't help that process." She looked down at her socks, then back up at Dean. "So, I'm sorry."

"Hey, not your fault," Dean was quick to reply. "Hell, out of you, Alec and Sammy, you're probably the sanest."

"Oh, that's reassuring," she said, laughing.

"I mean it. You don't ever make me feel like banging my head against a wall. Or possibly banging their heads together."

"You just haven't known me long enough yet."

"Nah, I don't think that's it," Dean argued. "For one, I've known Alec for maybe twenty minutes less than I've known you and he definitely induces headbanging. And, for another, you just are too sensible to continue to pout over something as silly as they do."

"Could you record that, or write it down, and send a copy to Buffy?" Dawn looked at him hopefully.

"Thanks. I was her main source of headaches for about three years," Dawn admitted, "It'll be good for her to know it's not a permanent condition."

"Hate to break it to you, but she's probably still going to be all flaily about you indefinitely," Dean told her. "Kinda goes along with the big sibling gig -- you never stop being one so you never stop worrying over your little brother. Or in yours and Buffy's case, little sister."

"She keeps sending me rolls of tape," Dawn pouted.

Dean couldn't help but chuckle at that. "You should find something useful to do with them," he suggested. "Some artsy crafty thing maybe you can give her as a gift."

"Oooh," Dawn said, wheels already turning. "That's not a bad idea, thanks, Dean."

"Along with one of Alec's dildo cozies," Dean added. "So she can see that what you could've ended up with instead of Sammy."

She facepalmed, "I'm not sending my sister a dildo cozy," she said into her hands, "and I'm not sure she wouldn't think that was better."
