Fourth Floor Common Room, Evening

As had become tradition for StuCo sponsored events, a large table was off to one side, covered with snacks and tubs of drinks.

The chairs and couches had all been pushed to the walls, leaving the center of the floor open for the whose ever turn it was.

Isabel rushed around collecting last minute ideas for things to be acted out.

"Baby giraffe?" Wyatt said, peering at Door.

Door mimes rocking a baby and shakes her head, then just holds up her thumb and index finger very close together - in front of her eye, as if she's having to peer at whatever she's holding.

"Wee tiny giraffe?" Wyatt said, puzzled.

Door smiles widely and nods, but gives him the 'come on, almost there' sign to show that it's not quite the right word.

"Miniature giraffe?" Wyatt offered up, running out of ideas.

Door claps. "Yes!" Then she slaps her hand over her mouth, because that's not all. The other bit's harder, though.

She points to herself, then mimes opening a door. Then she does the giraffe again and points to it with the other hand.

"Okay, you got me," Wyatt said. "You're leaving the miniature giraffe in your room?"

Door giggles, then shakes her head. Then cheats a bit because she can't think of any other way to convey it. "It has a name. Apparently."

"Door the Miniature Giraffe?" Wyatt said, not sure what else the name was supposed to be.

"My name's Door!"

"Well, you made a door motion and pointed to the giraffe!" Wyatt protested.

"No, I pointed to me and made a door motion. And then I pointed to the giraffe." Door sighs. "And then I gave up because if conveying 'name' is that hard, getting the actual name across would've been impossible."

"What's its name then?" Wyatt asked.

Door starts to say it, then snickers, and touches her ear in the 'sounds like' motion.

Then she mimes vomiting. Quite dramatically. You can almost see the spatter as she flutters her fingers.

"Sounds like...puke? Hurl? Barf?" Wyatt said.

Door jumps up and down and points to Wyatt, then holds up two fingers, for the second one.

Wyatt pondered. "Burl? Earl? Pearl?"

"Earl!" Door applauds.

"Well, that's kinda random," Wyatt said. "Unless it's some strange Fandom thing I know nothing about."

Door pulls out the slip of paper she was given. "A miniature giraffe named Earl. That's all I know about it. I've never met one here, but there might be."

Wyatt snickered. "I'll have to keep an eye out for it then."
