Lucas had a giant bowl of popcorn and was sitting in front of the TV. There was a documentary on, but the remote control was out of reach, so if anyone grabbed it they could probably flick over to something else.

Lucas grinned. "Well, I used to work with dolphins before I came here. It was kind of my thing."

"Like, at Sea World?" Cassie said.

"Nnno. I used to work on SeaQuest, a submarine. I was part of the civilian science contingent. I worked with the ship's dolphin, Darwin."

"Whoa, submarine?" Cassie said. "That's... really cool."

"Yeah," he grinned. "It was. When it gets a little warmer, I'm hoping to get back in the water."

"I keep thinking I should try the whole science thing," Cassie said. "Follow in all of my dad's footsteps. But marine biology never really caught my interest."

"I'm more of an engineering and computers guy. The marine biology thing is just a tagalong with that. What kind of science are you into?"

"Electronics engineering was my dad's thing," Cassie said. "I... haven't put too much thought into it, to be honest."

"Well there's plenty of time. Give stuff a try, see what you like and what you don't. The best thing about science is that there's enough out there that you can mix and match what you want."

"Yeah," Cassie said. "That's pretty good advice in general, really."
