Second Floor Common Room, a little after noon

Parker was talking as she entered the common room. "And this is the Second Floor Common Room, which is the best, of course. Anyone will tell you that. It got blown up once, but then it was fixed."

She flipped on the TV set and started looking for Smile Time or a monster movie.

And possibly other students to inflict wee tiny grown ups on.

"Could we blow it up?" Jarod looked up at Parker hopefully. Hey, she'd agreed to fishnchips and pizza...

"If we did, you'd have to fix it," Parker said very seriously. "I have better things to do." She looked around, trying to spot any sharp, hot, or electrical things. "Also, you can't cook without someone watching. But not me."

"Let's blow it up!" Rose agreed, jumping, then made a 'Kaboom!" noise.

"No blowing up. But you can jump on the couch and off of it if you want."

Yeah, those babysitting skills learned in the Danger Shop are getting a great workout here.

"But then there won't be a KABOOM!" Rose complained.

"There might be. You never know. Put some cushions on the floor, see what happens."

Rose did so, gathering all the cushions, placed them in a pile and in a run from one end of the room to another ran towards it and at the last minute stopped and jumped all over the cushions with a yell of, "KABOOOOOM!"

"Awesome." Okay, maybe this wasn't *so* difficult....

Rose grinned a dazed smile at her, then repeated the new word she learned for the day, "Awesome!"

"I'm good at fixing stuff and building stuff," Jarod offered, "and whatcha got to do? Are ya' going on a daaaaaaaate?"

Big kids dated. He remembered from tv.

Parker stared at him, deeply weirded out. "Uh, no. At least, I don't have one planned. I mean... I don't know, my boyfriend's probably still sleeping...."

"You should wake him with a big kiss, like this," he said, smooching his arm loudly.

"I'll tell him you said to do that," Parker said dryly. Okay, that weird-out he had last year? Totally understandable now.

Rose over heard the kissing part and wrinkled her nose, "Why would you want to kiss boys?"

"It's fun. But only if you're big." Parker nodded hard. "So don't do that."

"But I am big now!" Rose said, indignant, presented eight fingers and said, "I'm sixes!"

"Wait until you're at least sixteen, and then only kiss the nice rich ones." Hey, if someone had given her that advice....

"I like boys," Rose said, out of the blue. "But they have cooties."

"Just remember that. And they don't go away until they're eighteen."

What? May as well keep things simple for the kid....

He shook his head a lot, "No, you should make it be your idea."

"Oh? Why?" This should be good.

"Because no one wants to think someone had to be talked into kissing them."

She stared at him. "Wow, you better remember you said that when you're tall." Parker shook her head, smiling a little. "And he knows I like kissing him. So, um. Yes."

"Are you a good kisser? Why do you want to kiss people? What makes someone a good kisser?"

"I didn't ask this many questions last year!" Parker flailed a little. "Yes! I'm a good kisser! Because it feels nice! And I don't know! Okay? Why do you ask so many questions?!"
