Second Floor Common Room; Sunday Evening, 7 pm on: Tannim's Birthday!

Off on the third floor of Sunset Towers, beside Lake Michigan, in Westingtown, Wisconson, socialite and party planner extrodinair Grace Windsor Wexler might have felt a strange, sudden pang of pride for her youngest daughter.

Turtle had prepared the common room for Tannim's birthday party with a discretely tasteful collection of decorations, a snack spread perfect of any event of this sort, and a great selection of bad, cheesy horror films. Now it was just a matter of people arriving to enjoy it, especially the birthday boy.

Oh, and one other thing, in light of the recent academic of wee-tiny adults. She placed a sign outside the common room:

Tannim Drake's Birthday Party! Here!
Food, fun, and bad horror movies!

(Sponsered by Turtle & Canary, for all your shopping needs)
These movies are too scary for little kids!
No one under the age of twelve admitted!

And, being only a two years (and eleven months) shy of twelve herself, she knew that was just asking for the kids to flock. So she hired out the big Mexican kid to act as bouncer.

[[ yay, birthday! Please wait for OCD ROCK ON! ]]

Valerie pouted. "Why not?"

Awwwww. Pouting wee little redhead science teachers made of awesome were not fair.

"To, uh, save you from boring big kid stuff. Not fun at all." He shook his head.

"But I wanna know!" She was still the Friz. She bounced and posed. "Takes chances!"

...Resolve....breaking...So...much...cute...

"Turtle will get really mad at me if I let you in. And I hear she kicks people."

Valerie froze. And looked up at him with big watery eyes. "You woul'n't let her kick me?"

"Never," Chad nodded, assuringly. "But I'm afraid she might kick me."

"NO! No kickin' Chad! You get cookies instead," she nodded emphatically, bouncing some more. "I'll be good and stay here if you get cookies."

Chad scratched at his head a little. "But, if I get up to go get cookies, I abandon my post. I can't do that..."

Re: At the Door

She thrust a hand in the air excitedly. "I can do it!" She put on a very grave face and folded her arms like a wee little red-headed bouncer, glowering at the corridor.

Chad considered, but then, ultimately, decided it was too cute to not let happen. "Okay. You keep good guard, an' I'll go get us some cookies." Chad got up off his chair and dashed (as well as Chad could dash) inside to grab cookies, knowing Turtle had some.

She kept up the pose for exactly thirty-seven seconds, and then tried to see inside the room. The doorknob was presenting some problems.

Chad would have returned sooner if he hadn't gone back to save dropped cookies. He dropped back into his chair with a deep breath; he'd moved as quickly as he could. Once he caught his breath a little, he held out the plate of cookies for wee tiny Friz.

"COOKIES!" Bounce, twirl, pose! And take the plate of cookies very soberly and carefully.

Chad couldn't help patting that frizzy redhead admirably; if he didn't do anything, he'd melt from cute. "Enjoy."

"T'anks, Chad!" She sat down right there to eat them, too. She picked up one and examined it for a moment before holding it out. "Wan' one?"

Re: At the Door

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks," Chad nodded and took the offered cookie happily. He was afraid maybe she'd forget he was there and then he wouldn't get any cookies.

Nah, Chad was one of her favourite people! He would always get cookies!

She happily ate a couple cookies before deciding that she had to share a few more. So, carefully collecting the rest, she squirmed onto his lap and offered him another.

It was, after all, only a matter of time before party obstruction became jungle gym.

"Thanks again," he told her as he accepted another cookie. They were very tasty cookies.

It was like Everest. You climbed the Chad because he was there.

. . . possibly not dirty.

She bounced on his lap. "Am I bein' a good girl?"

Re: At the Door

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Chad nodded. "Yup. That's why you got so many cookies."

Cause-and-effect. A very Science!y notion.

Re: At the Door

[identity profile] getfrizzled.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
"So . . ." She got that evilly innocent look on her face that all children seem to possess. "Since Ima good girl can I see wha's goin' on in dere?"

Re: At the Door

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Well...." It was hard to refuse such evil innocence, especially when there were cookies involved. And she had covered for him while he went to get cookies. Chad looked down at little Friz on his lap and said, "I might be able to let you take a peek, but I still can't let you in."

Re: At the Door

[identity profile] getfrizzled.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Pweeeeeeeeease? Jus' a lil peek an' if it's borin', it'll be funner to play wi' you."

Re: At the Door

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Chad nodded. "Jus' a lil peek."

A wee little peek that involved Chad keeping a very close eye on wee little Friz, and his hand maybe on her back so that he can easily grab her shirt and pull her back in if she tried to make a run for it.

Re: At the Door

[identity profile] getfrizzled.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
She squirmed off his lap but seemed pretty indifferent to the hand on her back as she peered into the room, looking around curiously before making a face. "Bleh. Big kids an' no cartoons. Ima stay wi' you, Chad, 'kay?"
