Off on the third floor of Sunset Towers, beside Lake Michigan, in Westingtown, Wisconson, socialite and party planner extrodinair Grace Windsor Wexler might have felt a strange, sudden pang of pride for her youngest daughter.

Turtle had prepared the common room for Tannim's birthday party with a discretely tasteful collection of decorations, a snack spread perfect of any event of this sort, and a great selection of bad, cheesy horror films. Now it was just a matter of people arriving to enjoy it, especially the birthday boy.

Oh, and one other thing, in light of the recent academic of wee-tiny adults. She placed a sign outside the common room:

And, being only a two years (and eleven months) shy of twelve herself, she knew that was just asking for the kids to flock. So she hired out the big Mexican kid to act as bouncer.

"Hey, Turtle," Wyatt greeted her. "How's it going?"

"Not too bad," Turtle responded with a sing-song voice, trying to hold back her excited bouncing. "Youuuu?"

"Okay," Wyatt said. "Thanks for setting this up. I would've helped but I've been ~~naked~~ busy lately."

Turtle shook her head, blushing a little as she admitted, "I was happy to do it."

"So, are you and Tannim like an item now?" Wyatt asked.

"What?" Despite her supposedly passive, devil-may-care snort, Turtle's blush deepened. "Noooo..."

Not yet...

Wyatt grinned. "Well, if that changes, any time you two need the room or anything, I'm happy to clear out."

Turtle blinked at him, asking with complete innocence, "Why would we need the room or anything?"

"Oh, nothing," Wyatt said, trying not to snicker. "But just in case, the offer's there."

"Uh, kay? Thanks?"

Maybe they could make pipe bombs or something, then? Without Miley giving her more weird looks than usual?

"No problem," Wyatt said. "So...what did you get Tannim?"

"Shin guards, chocolate, and a gift certificate. You?"

"Gift certificate," Wyatt said. "Haven't had much time to go shopping unfortunately. So what are the shin guards for?"

Turtle grinned. "It's a good sign," she told him, "that you have to ask."

"Should I be getting a pair or something?" Wyatt said warily.

"Only if you plan on either getting me mad or touching my braid," Turtle nodded. "Which I hope you don't."

"What's wrong with touching your braid?" Wyatt asked, looking at the hair in question.

Turtle stared at Wyatt like he was crazy, openly gawking. "You mean, besides everything?"

"It's just a braid," Wyatt said, resisting the temptation to touch it. So far.

"It's my braid!" Turtle already began clinging to it protectively. "It's very important to me."

"But it's not like I'd cut it off or something," Wyatt said.

Turtle's eyes got very, very wide, her face very, very pale. "Yes, because then I would have to kill you."

Or have Deadpool do it.

"Don't worry, not planning on it," Wyatt said.

Turtle nodded. "Good." Having to bring death to Tannim's roommate would not be a good foot to start on at all. "Besides, how'd you feel if someone cut off your hair?" Because, with hair like that? Wyatt looked like someone who could potentially understand overpossession of hair.

Wyatt shuddered, not thinking at all about any future verions of himself with short hair. "Wouldn't like that one bit," he admitted.
