Sphere of Flame, with Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck, was playing in the common room. Parker had appropriated all the pillows, a big bowl of popcorn, and about a liter of Diet Coke to help her in watching it.

"Got a time machine? Or a remote control for the universe?" Alanna aksed and sat down on the couch. "Meow!" Faithful waved at Parker.

"I wish. Still working on it." Parker quirked a smile, and offered her the bowl, while reaching out to scratch Faithful along his spine. "But if I had, I wouldn't have been at Gun Club with a hangover this afternoon."

Faithful purred like mad while Alanna grabbed a handful of popcorn. "Why the hangover?"

"Celebrating relief at various spells being lifted last night, and other people being de-possessed. Plus it's been so damn long I forgot how much it hurt the day after." Parker winced a little, and took another sip of Coke. "What have you been up to? Why a time machine?"

Alanna blinked. "De-possessed? Trying to work out post-Fandom High plans and stuff. Nothing I want to be doing."

Parker cocked her head. "I thought you had most of that figured out. Going back to the old homestead, and all."

Alanna scratched Faithful behind the ear. "Yeah, something like that."

Parker cocked an eyebrow. "Anything I can help with? In the oh-so-much-time we have left."

"Figure out a way to make me be in two worlds at the same time, make a cell phone work in a world where there is no electricy, and oh yeah, figure out who Aly's father is."

"Talk to Bridge, talk to Bridge, and...." Parker cocked her eyebrow. "Talk to Kawalsky? Although I think the first two do have easier but ver definite solutions."

"Hunh, I think I'll do that, didn't think of it at first. And no clue is my biggest answer."

Parker looked sympathetic, then pointed out, "As long as you don't know, you can pick, you know. She says you're her mother, no matter what. I think you've got some leeway to figure it out." She paused, then carefully asked, "If I wanted to visit, in late summer-- do you think you'd be up for a visitor?"

Alanna bit down on her lip. Sorry, no. "As long as I'm in Tortall? Yeah, it shouldn't be a problem. I have ... most major details worked out."
