Third Floor Common Room, Sunday Brunch

Dawn decided the time was right to attempt to make french toast. What could be better on Easter Sunday than brunch, right? So she'd handwavily bought some good bread, eggs, sugar, and vanilla, and was currently trying to figure out the right proportions of things. The griddle wasn't heating yet.

Being Dawn, in addition to syrup, she'd also bought strawberry jam, nutella, tobasco sauce, chocolate chips, walnuts, bananas, raspberry sauce, caramel, and peanut butter. There were also bacon and ham available if someone wanted to make them, and plenty of extra eggs and bread in case someone didn't want to go the french toast route.

She sipped at her pineapple juice and contemplated going to look up a recipe.

"Hey Rikku!" Tori grinned, also excited. "Yeah, brunch. It all looks great."

"Mmmm, it is! There's French toast and eggs and bacon and all kinds of fun stuff. I made Egg Surprise! Okay, I kinda threw some stuff together, but still! It turned out pretty good!"

"Oh, that really does sound good." Tori smiled. "Egg surprise, huh? Well, as long as it was good." She chuckled.

Rikku grinned. "Cooking's more fun that way, if you kinda make it up as it goes along. So long as you don't mind it not working sometimes."

Tori nodded, smiling brightly. "You're right, it is." She chuckled. "Yeah, it won't always work but when it does, it's wonderful."

Rikku giggled. "I could make you some, but it may not turn out as well. Never the same recipe twice. Feeling brave?"

"That is true." Tori nodded, knowing from experience. She smiled. "I am." What's the worst that could happen, really?

Rikku grinned. "All right! Let's make some Egg Surprise!"

She cracked an egg on the edge of the griddle. "What do you think? Nutella or peanut butter? Ew, peanut butter might be a bit much, huh?"

Tori couldn't help but laugh. Rikku's excitement was infectious. "I think Nutella will work."

Rikku giggled. "Nutella!" And added some. "Is that really tabasco sauce? Hmmm. Do we wanna go the spicy route or the fruity route? 'Cause I see jam there too, and really, I could go either way. Just not, you know. Both."

Tori wasn't so sure about the tabasco sauce. "I think the fruity route works best." She grinned. "Yeah, both might be a little extreme."

"Fruity it is!" She tossed in some of the raspberry sauce and a touch of strawberry jam. And some butter, and some walnuts, and maybe a banana in there.

"Meat or no meat? 'Cause I think I'm almost done making a mess here." Rikku grinned.

Tori smiled. "Um... no meat." She couldn't help but laugh a little. "Sometimes it's fun to make a mess."

Rikku laughed. "Messes are what I do. Well, okay, messes, thieving, and kicking butt, but I think alchemy counts as making a mess. Right?"

She grabbed a couple of plates. "This should be interesting."

"It might?" Tori shrugged, smiling. "And all three are good things to excel in." She laughed. "I'm sure it will be."

"It certainly makes life fun, I'll say that!" Rikku giggled.

And took a bite, considering. "Hmm. Not as good as the earlier version, but it's got flair. I think I like it."

"Definitely." Tori agreed, grinning. She sampled her portion and smiled. "Not bad, not bad at all." She smiled. "I like it. Good job."

Rikku grinned. "Thanks! It's way better than it had any right to be. That's half the fun of it, really."
