Dawn decided the time was right to attempt to make french toast. What could be better on Easter Sunday than brunch, right? So she'd handwavily bought some good bread, eggs, sugar, and vanilla, and was currently trying to figure out the right proportions of things. The griddle wasn't heating yet.

Being Dawn, in addition to syrup, she'd also bought strawberry jam, nutella, tobasco sauce, chocolate chips, walnuts, bananas, raspberry sauce, caramel, and peanut butter. There were also bacon and ham available if someone wanted to make them, and plenty of extra eggs and bread in case someone didn't want to go the french toast route.

She sipped at her pineapple juice and contemplated going to look up a recipe.

"But the problem is matching the dressing up with things you can actually do here on the island. I mean bowling in a dressy dress? Unless," Isabel said, "You have a car and can get to the mainland. Then the possibilities are limitless."

"I think we were talking more about dinner," although maybe leaving the island wouldn't be a bad idea...

"There's a zoo kind of near here, right?"

"Yup," she nodded. "In D.C. I think they even have pandas. And if you drive up to Baltimore, there's a great aquarium. We went up there last spring break."

Right, Dawn knew there was a problem with this idea. "Sam's too young to drive, I don't have a license, and neither of us have a car."

"Maybe walk over the causeway and get a cab to the Metro station in Alexandria?" Isabel suggested. "I'm pretty sure other people have done that."

"I'll suggest it," she promised. "What about you? Are you going?"

"I'm organizing a good part of it, so yeah, I'll be there."

"Are you going with anyone?" Dawn asked.

Isabel shrugged. "At the moment? No."

"See, now that's just wrong."

"It's not that big a deal," she said. "I went alone last year and I had a blast."

Dawn wanted Isabel to have her perfect night, but again with the not being overly involved, "Whatever makes you happiest, I think."

"I'm just being practical at the moment. "I'll go and dance with Jack, and Cedric. I'll borrow Jarod from Jaye for a dance," Isabel replied. "I'll still have fun. And who knows, things can change in a week."

"Your knight in shining armor showing up from out of the blue and sweeping you towards the prom on his noble steed?" Dawn teased, "Although wow, that sounds like a lot of very pretty boys to dance with."

"I don't need a knight, besides, Willow might get mad. But a friend to have fun with wouldn't be a bad thing," she replied. "And yes, if this prom is anything like last year's prom? There'll be a lot of pretty to dance with."

"I was just illustrating my point, not suggesting Peter in particular," she said, laughing.

Isabel laughed with her. "I know. It's just that I don't want to get my expectations up about a date. I'll find a friend to go and have a good time with or I'll go alone and still have fun. It's far from the end of the world either way."

"Oh sure, and I'd loan you Sam, but, well, he's not a comfortable dancer and we're not going," Dawn shrugged.
