First Floor Lobby: Sunday afternoon

Finals started tomorrow, so Jack was - surprisingly enough - studying.

He was doing it in a very Jack way, though. He'd claimed the biggest couch in the first floor lobby as his own and was currently sprawled across it, shirtless, sucking on a lollipop while he flipped through a textbook.

Propped up at each end of the couch was a sign which read--





"Worried about Finals?

Lick a Seahorse for Luck!

The table next to him held several empty coffee cups, with books and notes piled haphazardly next to them, and sitting underneath it - where it wouldn't be immediately apparent to anyone walking past - was a large box, filled with lollipops that he would happily share.

Cedric wandered up and laughed at the sign. "Is this innuendo or are you actually wanting people to lick aquatic animals?"

"A little of both, with a side order of not quite," he laughed, sitting up to grin at Cedric. "Lick a Seahorse today, be lucky in your Finals tomorrow, although," his grin got wider, "on that scale, you've probably got all the luck you need."

He blushed and managed to laugh at the same time. "And on that note, you probably have enough luck to last you several decades."

"Centuries, even," he teased. "Licking Seahorses, at least certain of them, might just be one of my favourite things." He flashed Cedric another grin, then reached into the box, sorting through the lollipops until he had one of every flavour. "For you, Seahorses to lick for luck!"

"Oh, you're too kind," he said, taking the lollipops. "How can I ever thank you?"

"I have some ideas, but I probably shouldn't list them in public," Jack said after a minute, smiling up at him.

He smirked and opened one of the lollipops before sliding it into his mouth. "Probably a wise choice."

Jack was momentarily very distracted, but he pulled his attention away after a few seconds. "Yes, very wise," he agreed, laughing at himself this time. "Good?"

He nodded. "Hopefully this does cause me luck. If not, I might have to blame you."

"And I'll do everything in my power to make it up to you," he promised, smirking again. "Anything you like, though if nothing else the sugar should make it easier to study."

"And are you studying?"

"Of course!" He dug out the textbook he'd been reading and held it out as proof. "See? Studying. I've been hard at work down here. I'm exhausted from all this studying."

"And your shirt being off helps you study?"

"...yes?" He wasn't sure how he was going to justify that one, so he added, "And it helps other people as well."

He laughed and said, "It doesn't distract them terribly from studying?"

"Well, most people are just passing through the lobby on their way somewhere else," Jack replied, thinking fast. "So I'm providing a benefit! They get something nice to look at, maybe a bit of sugar, and then they can go off to study, relaxed and happy."

"You almost sound like you're describing a plant," he said, laughing again.

"Plants don't flirt," he quickly pointed out. "So that makes me better than a plant. I'm interactive."

"And flexible."

"And flexible," he agreed, snagging a lollipop. "Very flexible, in fact." He unwrapped it and licked it slowly. "And way prettier than a plant."

"I hope you break that news to your plant very gently."

"I won't tell it. It thinks it's the handsomest being in all the land, and I don't want to hurt its feelings."

Cedric laughed and stuck his hands in his pockets. "You make sure you study sometime tonight, all right?"

"I will," he promised. "You have my word. My solemn promise. And if you felt like stopping by to check up on me..." He smiled invitingly.
