First Floor Lobby: Sunday afternoon

Finals started tomorrow, so Jack was - surprisingly enough - studying.

He was doing it in a very Jack way, though. He'd claimed the biggest couch in the first floor lobby as his own and was currently sprawled across it, shirtless, sucking on a lollipop while he flipped through a textbook.

Propped up at each end of the couch was a sign which read--

The table next to him held several empty coffee cups, with books and notes piled haphazardly next to them, and sitting underneath it - where it wouldn't be immediately apparent to anyone walking past - was a large box, filled with lollipops that he would happily share.

"He's managed to deal with me for almost a year, hard not to." He remembered some of what Cedric had had to deal with, and then boggled slightly at the year part of it. "Almost a year," he repeated, sort of amazed.

"Long time. Last relationship I had that lasted that long was my fiancee."

"Never had one before, long or short." Jack tipped his head to look at her. "Now I've had two that made it to almost a year."

"...almost a year? Seriously?"

"I think so. I haven't really been keeping track, but I've been back almost a year, we started being what we are not long after that, so yeah," he tucked a bit of hair behind her ear, trailed his finger down her neck, "almost a year."

"Wow," she said, surprised on some level that Jack hadn't died yet.

"That sums it up nicely." He dipped his head to kiss her ear. "Wow."

"I think it's very strange that my second longest relationship ever was supposed to be a two or three time fling for sex," she said, amused.

"The whole thing was very odd. I distinctly remember telling you it wasn't a serious thing." Jack slid a strand of her hair between his fingers. "Of course," he added, laughing a little. "I also remember telling you, way back when, if I was the sort of person who fell in love, I'd already be halfway there with you."

"And I remember agreeing that it wasn't anything serious," Sam rubbed her head against his fingers, "and that I was bad at relationships and didn't want to fall in love with anyone. Funny how things work out."

"It really is," he agreed softly, smiling at her. "But this has been good, Sam. I think this is the happiest I've ever been." He kissed her temple. "Thank you."

Hugging him, she licked the back of his shoulder. "If this isn't it, it's pretty close to it."

Jack grinned when she licked his shoulder. "After more luck, are you?" he asked, hugging her close.

"More luck is never a bad thing, but really, you're temptation enough."

"You can't resist me," he teased, kissing the corner of her mouth. "This is a good thing."

"Hmmmmm," she said, not so sure, "a little resistance would be okay. You'll get spoiled otherwise."

"Maybe," he said, kissing her chin, her jaw, then her nose. "How about I change that to: you don't resist me, even though you could?"

"That's sounds better," she decided, "and what are you doing here, other than handing out lollipops and tempting the masses?"

"Believe it or not?" Jack scrabbled around on the couch until he found his Fairy Tales textbook and showed it to her. "Actually studying."

"Getting any work done?"

"A little bit." He grinned. "Cedric promised me incentives if I studied."

Sam snorted, "I don't think I need to know what kind."

Jack's grin should have told her what kind. "He knows how to motivate me."

It did, and she grinned. "I'm gonna go shower. Tell Cedric I said hi."

"I can do that," he promised and kissed her. "Enjoy your shower, and I'll see you tomorrow. Want me to bring you more Seahorses to lick?"
