Cthulhu Campfire, Tuesday Afternoon (After Workshops)

Sam wasn't used to not having classes every day, and not having to worry about his workshops until tomorrow was making him feel weird. So, he went out by the campfire to get some fresh air and read one of the books he'd gotten for his birthday.

"No!" She said, giggling, "We definitely don't. Who knows what Hermione could do to us."

"I don't even want to guess," Sam said. "In particular, I'd like to go the whole summer without getting glued to my pants again."

"Does that mean that if I end up going home, or at least to Scotland, for a visit that you don't want to come?" Dawn asked. "Because that's always a risk."

"Well, that's a totally different situation. Are you planning on going home?" he asked. "Because if you are, I'd love to come, even if it means getting freaked out and intimidated by your Buffy again."

She nodded, "Yeah, that's the answer I'm waiting for from Buffy," she tried not to get worried all over again, "And she's supposed to tell me when and how many and how we're getting there and all that stuff."

Dawn hesitated, then added, "It might be more than just Buffy there, Sam. People might come home to see me. It could be...intense."

"I can deal with intense," Sam said confidently. "It'll be good if other people are there. I want to meet your other friends after how much you talk about them. And as long as the threats on my life are only threats, intensity won't be so bad."

"Only threats," she promised, hugging him, "Probably."

"Dean will be extremely bothered if I don't come back in one piece," he pointed out.

"One piece we can probably manage. Unbruised...well..." She shrugged.

"Am I allowed to bruise back, or will that be frowned upon?"

"Kinda depends on who's doing the bruising, but most of them respect someone who fights back." Because that wasn't too terrifying.

"Okay, I'll keep that in mind," Sam said, grinning smugly. "Hopefully, it won't come to that. I think I can make a good enough impression that bruising won't be necessary."

"I'm sure you can, too," she smiled at him, "but it never hurts to be prepared."
