Curupira campfire - Monday evening

Since she had no workshops today, Molly had slept in and then spent the majority of the day puttering around the cabin. The glittery was getting to her though. So, she went to sit outside for a while with her back to the cabin. She ignored the fact that she was almost as glittery as the cabin by now.

"Thanks. It's going to take a lot of scrub brushes, though."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Is it?" Naminé considered. "If this is an enchantment, then won't all of the glitter disappear just as miraculously as it appeared to begin with?"

"Enchantment? What, like some kind of magic spell? Right. Because the world is a fairy tale."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé smiled faintly. "You don't believe in magic? It's as real as you or I. I've been told I'm a witch, though I'm not sure my powers are quite the same."

"No, I don't believe in magic." Because he wasn't crazy and he was from a world where magic doesn't exist. "But if you want to try to show me some, you're welcome, everyone else is doing it,"

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé thought for a minute, and then nodded. "Very well. I will."

She held out her hand and focused. And then a black-and-purple oval - around six feet high - appeared in the air in front of her. Black smoke curled upwards from it.

"Would you care to step into my cabin?"

[personal profile] stuckeyboy 2007-05-22 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Warren blinked at the oval a lot. He reached out a finger to poke at it. "Dude, you've got the best effects so far."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not an effect. It's a portal." She smiled. "I do like that you're impressed. You can travel between any two points, if you know how to open darkness. Darkness connects everything, after all, just like light does."

Naminé nodded slightly. "It's perfectly safe. It's just a doorway to my cabin. I didn't think you'd appreciate going very far, should you decide to step through."

Warren totally modded her portal, not dirty, omg blinked more at the portal thingy, then cautiously stuck his hand in.

It didn't feel any different, so he tried sticking his head in.

A moment later, he pulled it back out and turned to stare wide eyed at Naminé. Then he stuck his head back in and turned to stare again. He repeated this process several times.

"Holy crap, that thing is real!"

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course," she said, amused. "You can step through it if you'd like. Or I will, if you're not sure of it. Would you like me to?"

(OOC: *facepalm* it is totally okay! you've got how it works right and it does in fact lead to abominable snowman, and I should have clarified OOC, my bad! visual reference (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yEAciVDQ28) at the end of this clip)

Warren stared at the portal. "Yeah, I'm really not sure I'm ready to take that leap off the deep end." He backed away from the portal. "But, um, be my guest."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé curtsied lightly. "I understand. I'll be right back."

And with that she stepped through the portal, closing it behind her.

Warren waved his hand through the air where the portal had been, still boggling.

Then he slowly sat down and tried to wrap his brain around it all.

A minute or two later, Naminé walked up to the campfire. From the general direction of the Abominable Snowman cabin, no less.

She sat down next to Warren with a smile and a wave. "It's just a portal. You can travel all sorts of distances that way. If you know how."

Warren made a lot of incoherent noises and ran his hands through his hair.

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't mean to disturb you," she said, worrying a bit. "Just show you that perhaps you're wrong, about what's real and what isn't. Or perhaps Fandom isn't real itself, which is a bit odd to consider."

[personal profile] stuckeyboy 2007-05-22 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
That would be a faint whimper at the idea of Fandom not being real.

Warren had never had an existential crisis, before. "No," he said finally. "That's okay. And that's a-a cool thing you did, there . . . even if I can't even begin to understand it. . . ."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Not much to understand," Naminé shrugged. "It's just a shortcut. Darkness can reach to every point in the universe, but darkness itself is a void. So you can travel to darkness from anywhere, and from darkness to anywhere else."

She looked over at Warren. "So if you want to get between two places quickly, you travel to the void, and from there to the new location. It's logical, if a little odd."

". . . That's the most complicated piece of physics I've ever heard, and I used to be really, really into Galaxy Quest."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé smiled. "I know it sounds confusing. But it really does work. Would you like to go somewhere else? I can create another one." She gestured with her hand out.

Warren shook his head quickly. "No! No. That's okay. Maybe another time. My brain is gooey enough as it is, right now. . . ."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
"My apologies, for alarming you." She nodded lightly. "It is rather convenient, for travel. And escaping from those who wish to harm you." There was a teasing smile as well. "And of course I seem to get strange looks for it here."
stuckeyboy: (Default)

[personal profile] stuckeyboy 2007-05-22 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
". . . Considering what people have been trying to tell me, that might be the most unbelievable thing you've said."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé laughed. "It's true, although perhaps it's only newer students. Maybe the older ones view it as old hat. But I could say stranger things that I'm sure you wouldn't believe. All true, as well. My life is ... complicated."

She shrugged. "Is Stuckeyville not like this, then?"
stuckeyboy: (Default)

[personal profile] stuckeyboy 2007-05-22 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
Warren laughed. "Stuckeyville is so completely not like this there aren't words."
