Chupacabra Campfire [Tuesday Evening]

One workshop on explosions, one more day spent avoiding Luke and Gavin's back at the campfire. He's not hiding this time, but he's still prepared to run should anyone mention quarters or tigers or 'angels.'

After his workshop, he'd gone into town and picked up ten bars of chocolate. Yes, ten. Look, they might taste different, okay? Of course, Gavin's not thinking of chocolate plus fire equals a mess. He's too busy trying to decide which to try first.

And now the fireball was headed toward him and the chocolate was going to start melting and all Gavin could do was jump to his feet and stare.

Laughing, Johnny flew down and stopped precisely three feet from Gavin. "How's it goin' magic man?"

Gavin blinked. "Johnny? Does that...hurt?"

He was too busy focusing on the fire thing to hear the quip about his fun times with Luke.

"Dude, I'm burning up, it hurts like hell." What? He could poke fun too.

"Do you need me to go get help?" Gavin asked, pointing behind him towards...the cabin but there was help somewhere beyond his cabin.

"I need buckets of water!" And no, buckets of water would not douse Johnny. "Gavin! I'm burning to death before your very eyes!"

"All right," he said and dashed inside the cabin. They had no buckets but they did have cups. He filled two of them, came back and and made to throw them at Johnny.

And they had no effect whatsoever. Johnny folded his arms across his chest and cocked a leg, "I could be toast right now. Writhing in pain on the ground. Relying on you to save me from the burning inferno that is myself."

"I don't have any buckets," he said and stared at the still on fire Johnny. "Shower?"

"You're offering to take me to the shower?"

"I don't have any buckets," he said, flailing a little. "And you're on fire!"

"Wait! Wait! I have a better idea. Why don't you make jazzy hands, woo your magic, and make me better!"

Gavin scowled at him. "I hate you."

He didn't and it was easy to tell.

Laughing at Gavin, Johnny extinguished himself and said, "Aw, come on! Do the whole invisible thing again, cause that was just too cool."

Gavin wished he had more water in his cups because he'd throw it at Johnny. Instead, he just threw the cup. But, plastic cups don't do much damage at all.

"I hate you," he said again.

"No, you don't. You wouldn't have offered to take me to the shower if you did." Johnny snickered, glancing down at the plastic cup that had bounced off his chest. "And I must say, what a noble gesture."

He made a face and threw the other cup at Johnny. "Next time, I'll just step on your foot."

"Yeah, because that would so work, let me tell you." He looked down at the other cup that bounced off his chest then grinned at Gavin. "Are you flirting with me? Cause it feels like you're flirting with me."

"We're not flirting," he said even though he wasn't really sure. "I'm throwing cups at you and threatening you...very poorly."

"Which is why I am under the impression that you are flirting with me," he said, amused. "And I'm not even shiny."

"No flirting!" Gavin exclaimed. "There is no flirting going on. And you'll never see the inside of my shower."

Johnny pouted. Amusing Gavin was totally fun.

Gavin tried to stay angry even though he wasn't. In the end, he pushed Johnny's shoulder and then said, "Want some candy?"

"You've been holding out on me? Dude," he said, tossing his arms in the air, "lead me to your stash!"

"I bought some candy bars today," he said, picking up two and handing them to Johnny. "We don't have this where I'm from."
