Chupacabra Campfire [Tuesday Evening]

One workshop on explosions, one more day spent avoiding Luke and Gavin's back at the campfire. He's not hiding this time, but he's still prepared to run should anyone mention quarters or tigers or 'angels.'

After his workshop, he'd gone into town and picked up ten bars of chocolate. Yes, ten. Look, they might taste different, okay? Of course, Gavin's not thinking of chocolate plus fire equals a mess. He's too busy trying to decide which to try first.

"I think you'd be a good chicken," Gavin said, smiling around his candy bar.

Karal lowered his candy bar and just stared. "You think I would be a good chicken."

He laughed at that reaction. "Your face...you should see it right now."

"You just told me you believe I would be a good chicken!" Karal gestured dramatically with the candy bar. "That is a very strange thing to say! I have no idea how to react to it, other than doing this." He pointed at his face, which was starting to look rather amused at the idea.

"Put some feathers on your head," Gavin said, laughing himself now, "and a pointed nose and perfect!"

"I am not dressing up as a chicken!" he said repressively. Or as repressively as he could, which wasn't very. "If the oddness strikes and I am transformed into one, that's one thing...and I cannot credit that I actually just said that."

"I think someone wants to be transformed into a chicken," he teased lightly. "I could call you Cluckral!"

And the last bit of Karal's chocolate bar went flying towards Gavin.

Not expecting that, Gavin didn't move and the chocolate bar thwapped his shoulder before rolling harmlessly to the floor.

"Poor chocolate bar," he said sadly.

"It was sacrificed for a noble cause," Karal said solemnly.

"The cause that of changing Karal into a chicken?" Hey, he could tease too!

"I am not going to be transformed into a chicken!" He was laughing now, making it hard to talk. "It was merely a random example!"

"You say that now," Gavin said. "I didn't want to be a magician with a tiger either."

"This is true," he said, laughter stopping abruptly. "This is very true. Well, if I do somehow become a chicken, will you be kind enough to feed me? Perhaps ensure no one makes a meal of me?"

"You have my word," he said, nodding.
