It was raining out, but Bel was craving a cigarette, so he slipped outside and ducked under the eaves of the cabin, then conjured a fireball to light up. He glanced over at the sign on the door and wondered who had renamed the cabin. Had to be wishful thinking, because he sure as hell had never dressed as a girl, and never would. The manly part, he could live with that.

"Chris," Anders said tersely. "Blames you and me for Phoebe getting hurt."

"I'm gonna kick that little brat's ass," Bel growled.

Anders shrugged and held up a hand in a placating gesture that was halfhearted at best. "I get why he's mad. Don't think it's fair for him to take it out on us, though."

"Somebody should teach him a lesson about that then," Bel said.

"Somebody who just might be a half-demon whose name starts with a B?" Anders raised an eyebrow and exhaled a cloud of smoke.

Bel smirked. "Right in one," he said.

Anders grinned and wrapped an arm around Bel's neck. "Now you're being all growly and protective again, and that's kind of way hot so I think I might have to kiss you."

"Doctor said no hanky panky," Bel teased, starting to draw back.

Anders gave him the sad-puppy face. "A kiss is so not hanky panky by itself."

"I don't know," Bel said thoughtfully. "I wouldn't want you to get too excited and tear your stitches. . . ."

"One kiss has less chance of tearing my stitches than getting TKed into the ground," Anders pointed out.

"True," Bel said slowly. He flicked his cigarette into the (not burning, of course) campfire, then put one hand behind Anders's neck and tugged him closer.

Anders's cigarette followed Bel's into the campfire pit. "Careful with my back," he warned, most likely unnecessarily, leaning into Bel.

"I'm just kissing you, not frakking you up against the wall," Bel said, all growly voice.

The growly voice, combined with what Bel was actually saying? So patently unfair.

"Dammit," Anders grumbled, equal parts amused and frustrated. "This sucks."

"Now there's an idea," Bel said.

"What's an --" Anders stared at him, then started grinning. "I dunno . . . have to be really careful how I moved . . ."

"Mmm hmm," Bel purred.

"Thought you wanted me to get better," Anders drawled. "You really want to risk that?"

"You're right," Bel sighed, drawing away again. "I wouldn't want to break you."

"Break? Break?" Anders echoed mock-indignantly. "I'm a big boy, you know."

Bel glanced down quite pointedly. "Maybe so," he said. "But you're fragile now."

"I'm on the disabled list," Anders replied, reverting to jock mode. "I'm not fragile . . . what, are you seriously that afraid of me getting hurt again?"
