Fourth Floor Common Room [late evening]

Aravis could, once again, not sleep. So tonight she was curled up on the couch (where she had absolutely not fallen asleep the night before) and was watching whatever had come up on the television while sipping tea and poking at a roll of something called Rolos that she'd ~~handwavily~~ gotten earlier, along with a heap of other candies.

She would probably welcome company. And maybe share her candy. Maybe.

Seely shook his head, and raised his eyebrows. "Nuh, no' tha' way."

Aravis scowled. "I am not doing that," she said, raising her chin.

Seely shrugged. "Though' you need'd it?" he asked around the Rolo.

She really didn't want to lose, more than anything.

So she bent her head to take it the way he was insisting.

Seely grinned and slid his hand up to cup the back of her head as he let her take it.

Aravis pulled back, pleased that she had won. "Now, the rest?"

Seely made absolutely no attempt to move. "But we'll be here all night if I give you the rest right now."

"Not if you just hand it over," she said, narrowing her eyes and lunging for the candy again.

"I can't just do that," Seely replied, very quickly shifting so he could hide the candy behind his back. "Besides, my way's more fun."

"You're infuriating and you may be crushing the candy," she said, her mouth dropping open in horror.

"I'm pretty sure I'm not," Seely said. "It'd feel smushier if I was."

"It is not your right to take away my things," she tried.

"Which is why I'm going to give it back tomorrow?" Seely said. "If you saw me playing with a sword and knew I was going to regret it, you'd take it away from me, right?"

"Yes, but that is because you would probably stab yourself in the eye."

"And if you have any more candy tonight you'll make yourself sick," Seely said. " As it is, I can tell you're going to crash hard. Look, I swear that this is the only time I'll ever take your candy away."

She sigh, finally settling down a bit. Unfortunately, the place she was currently situated ensured that this meant that for the time being, she was sitting in his lap. "I still do not know what you mean about crashing. I feel perfectly fine."

Seely was doing his best to ignore the fact having an Aravis sitting in his lap was far from unpleasant. "Look, you've seen what happens when people drink too much, right?"

"That is not the same. I am completely in control of my senses," she said, frowning.

"Which is why you're fighting me over candy?" Seely asked. "But you've seen how it affects them physically?"

"I am fighting you because you took it," she said. "And yes. What of it?"

"Well, when you have too much sugar too soon, it's like every cell in your body is drunk. They're all happy, and it makes you all hyper and energetic," Seely said. "'Cept the thing is, the energy just runs out, like that." He clicked his fingers. "And you crash. And then your cells are hungover."

Aravis stared at him. "That made no sense."

Didn't help that she didn't know what cells were.

Seely facepalmed. "Hold out you hands," he said. "And try to hold them steady."

Aravis held out her hands. "I am fine, see -- Oh."

Her right hand was shaking no matter how hard she tried to still it. "Oh dear."

Seely reached up to rub her hand. "See what I mean?"
