Gym, Flag Football Practice, Sunday Noon

There were painstakingly measured cone paths running up and down the length of the gym.  Today the players were going to run. 

Once everyone appeared to be assembled, John made an announcement, "Okay guys, today we're gonna run sprints.  Let's see how fast all of you can run 100 meters."  He motioned to a box of stopwatches next to the sign-in sheet.  "Grab a stopwatch and time yourself.  You can also get in groups or pairs if you'd like.  If you have questions, your captains are available as always."

"Ah," Johnny got that. Well, he would get that if he had a girlfriend to impress. "Who's the girlfriend?" And he hoped to hell he hadn't tried to hit on her.

"Lana." Jim nodded towards the cheerleader on the sidelines, grinning. "You - you saved our asses once, remember?" Unless the mun is severely braindead at the moment.

"She had nightmares before." Jim looked towards her again. "We got out of the cabins until we could move back into the dorms. Don't think we'll be sneaking off into the woods together anytime soon."

"Oh. That...sucks. The nightmares." Johnny said, arching a brow. "And dude, totally stay out of the woods. Heard they got rid of the psycho but I can imagine it being too much for her to head straight back out there where all that went down."

"Just a bit." Jim rubbed the back of his neck, shaking his head. "The worst thing is? This stuff happens to her all the time. At least I was around this time."

Johnny didn't know what to say - he was never one for talking about what other people should do unless it concerned him directly.

"Trouble happens to her all the time, or nealy getting killed happens to her all the time?" There was a difference, right?

That totally sucked. "So, when you're out of town. Leave her with someone to watch over her. I'm willing, Jim." And he meant that in a totally platonic fashion even though Lana was hot. Come on.

Hey. He's looked in his own bedside table. Condoms, those little makeup pad things, the eyebrow pencil Lana was always looking for, taser.

"You bet. I'd totally torch someone for her, man." Johnny wouldn't try anything. Not unless Lana tried first. Then he would pay back in kind. You know, if anything like that ever happened. Just sayin'.

Damn. Johnny needed to stock up his nightstand drawer. Maaan!
