Fourth floor common room: Wednesday morning [before workshops]

It was a somewhat damp Karal who trudged into the fourth floor common room. He'd just come back from feeding Trenor, it was raining outside, and he had yet to be introduced to the concept of an umbrella.

This would be why he was damp, although damp might be too mild a term, looking at the matter objectively. Water was dripping down the back of his neck and off his curls, his shoes were squelching lightly, and his shirt was stuck to him.

Altra, who'd been fast asleep in the common room, took one look at him and started laughing so hard he fell off the back of the couch.

Karal sighed. "I need a cup of tea."

"Seely! You are wet as well!" Karal: master of observation. "Would you care for a cup of tea?"

Seely shook his head, scattering water. "Is it tea like Aravis makes?"

"I do not know. Perhaps?" He frowned and picked up the packet. "It is not Karsite tea, it is English, but it is specifically for drinking with breakfast."

"Is it strong at least?"

"Not as strong as Karsite tea." He looked down at the packet, then up at Seely, smiling a little. "Would you like me to fetch some for you?"

Seely smiled back. "If it's not any trouble."

"Not at all," he replied, then grinned. "And while I am fetching tea, I will also acquire a towel. Shall I bring you one of those, as well?"

"Yeah, thanks," Seely said, nodding. "Unless you happen to find Aravis, then just bring her instead."

Karal blushed at the request, but he shook his head as he headed out the door. "I would not attempt to bring Aravis anywhere!"

Seely grinned and called out after him. "Tell her it's an anniversary present."

Karal almost tripped, trying to imagine her reaction to that, and he crept into the room very quietly, retrieving tea and two towels, before creeping back out.

"It is your anniversary?" he asked when he came back, handing Seely a towel. "Is there some sort of dimensional time distortion involved? Aravis has not been here for a year."

"Two month anniversary," Seely clarified, toweling himself off. "Since we started dating."

Karal dried his hair, staring at Seely in puzzlement. "How can you have a two month anniversary?"

"You date for two months?"

"No, but, that is not an anniversary. An anniversary is a year. Isn't it?" It could be different in this world.

"Usually," Seely said. "But you can use it for smaller amounts of time."

"You can?" Karal considered that then started to smile. "I did not know that. Thank you, Seely," he said, thinking of Molly as he went to make Seely the very strongest cup of tea he could manage.

"It's also a good excuse for buying them gifts, and doing romantic type stuff without looking too mushy."

He went a bit pink. "You know a lot about these matters, I think," he said as he spooned tea into the tea ball.

"A little, yeah," Seely nodded. "Although I don't know if I'd call myself an expert."

"I did not even know that you could have an anniversary after two months!" He placed the tea ball in a mug and poured boiling water over it, jiggling it so it would steep faster. "The rules here are very different."

Seely grinned happily. "And the girls."

"And the girls," he agreed, going pinker which he was completely prepared to blame on leaning over the hot tea. "So you think, umm, Molly would expect that a month would be marked by some sort of celebration?"

"She might," Seely said. "I don't think she'd be mad if you missed it, but even if she wasn't expecting it she'd probably consider it a nice move on your part."

He frowned as he pulled the tea ball out of the tea, considered it, then handed it to Seely. "It is quite strong. And I think you are correct. I will find something nice to do for Molly. I should be able to visit her soon. so I can surprise her then."
