Still in the wolf form that Umbridge had turned him into, Dean was stretched out on the couch, chin resting on the armrest, tv remote in his mouth. With careful experimenting, he'd figured out how to turn on the tv and change the channel by biting down gently on the buttons.

He was currently watching an old werewolf movie; it had seemed appropriate given the circumstances.

"What'd you do with the kitten plates? Also, kitten plates?"

"Yes, kitten plates. She had them hanging up on her wall, and there was some sort of...I don't know, enchantment on them? So they were moving around and mewing. Dean and I kind of stole them and used them for target practice in firearms class," he said proudly.

"Okay, that first part is way creepy, but you killed kittens??" Dawn looked woefully at Sam, trying not to be scandalized.

"They weren't real kittens!" Sam insisted. "They just sounded like real kittens, and then as soon as the plates broke, so did the enchantment."

"So...like, you freed the kittens that were trapped in the plates?" That sounded so much better.

"Yes, that's it," Sam said, because he didn't think there was another answer that would keep him from getting smacked in the head.

"Oh, okay." She relaxed. "What else did you do while I was in LA?"

"Um, I took Scout out for a lot of walks. And I did some reading. And I didn't go to the girlkissy party," Sam said.

"There was a girlkissy party? How come you didn't go?"

"Because I figured you'd get all glare-y and mad if you found out I went to a party to watch girls kiss each other?"

Dawn sighed. "Just so we're clear? Because we're not married, you're a teenage guy, and there's this thing guys have about watching girls kiss each other? I don't care if you watch other girls kiss each other--I don't, really." She leveled a look at him. "Sam-kissy is another story."

"There definitely wouldn't have been any Sam-kissy," he assured her quickly. "And girls have the same thing about watching guys kiss each other, you know."

"It's okay, and I'm not gonna tell 'em not to kiss in front of me if they want to," she shrugged, "but it's not a do or die thing with me, y'know?"

"It's not a do or die thing with me either," Sam replied, laughing. "That would be Dean, not me."

"So, if I were to go, oh, I don't know, like, underwear shopping with Rikku, you wouldn't want to watch?" Dawn teased.

The way Sam's eyes got glossy for a moment as he pictured that said more than any answer he could give.

Dawn promptly started giggling.

"That was such an unfair question, throwing underwear in there too."

The giggles tapered off, and now she was just smirking at him knowingly.

It was very third grade but... "I know something you don't know," she sing-songed.

Sam gave Dawn a strange look. "Does this involve your underwear? Because if it does, I'd really like to know."

"I think you'll have to wait," she decided, nodding once. "Yep. I definitely think patience would be good for you."

"What if I don't want to be patient?" Sam asked, throwing in some puppy eyes for good measure.
