Lawn in front of the dorms, Thursday after first period

Eight inches? Jude didn't know imperial very well, but that just sounded insane.

So there was only one thing to do, one logical course of action to follow. The resurrection of a proud Fandom High tradition (hey, he'd done it once before, hadn't he?).

So now, Jude was standing in front of the dorms in his Awesome suit, jacket and skateboard nearby, holding aloft a sign that said simply, 'FREE HUGS'. A stack of similar signs was at his feet.

"I wonder what someone did to her office?" Charlie said, snuggling closer to Anders. "I almost want to just go by and peek to see what has her calling us Muggles. Whatever that is."

"Whatever it is, I bet it isn't a nice word." Anders was happy to hug her a little more tightly. "I gotta say, hearing her completely flip the frak out over the PA system was almost enough to make up for casting a silencing spell on Phoebe. Almost. Whoever did whatever they did, I owe them big-time."

Charlie leaned her chin on Ander's chest to look up at him. "She turned Dean into a wolf in retaliation for all the plates we broke last week. Talk about unfair. I mean, Detention is one thing, but turning someone into an animal? Creeeeepy."

"A wolf? Oh, like we don't have enough trouble with people turning into animals for no reason as it is!" Anders gritted his teeth. "Okay, that's at least four people I know of now that she's hexed one way or another. And some of it would almost be kind of funny if she wasn't so creepy."

Charlie hugged Anders a little harder and nodded. "I was thinking I wanted to be called in, for solidarity, you know? But now I don't think it's such a great idea." For one thing, the temptation to set fire to Umbridge's desk might get too strong, and that would be a bad thing. "I do kind of want to mess with her though. I'm trying to think of something that'll annoy her but not get traced back."

"Yeah," Anders said, frowning. "I really want to do something, but I don't know what I can do that won't result in serious physical harm. The main things I'm really good at involve tackling people and shooting them and that might be a little bit much."

"I'm playing protest-type songs at Groovy Tunes, but it's not like she'll even hear about it," Charlie said, looking discouraged. She made a face. "Yeah, shooting people would be kind of counter-productive. Even if it was with a tranquilizer gun and possibly funny." She paused. "Nerf Gun?"

Anders's eyes lit up. "Nerf gun . . . maybe one of the magic-types could do something funky to the darts so they turn into noisy birds or something, or fly around and keep bonking her in the head . . . I like the way you think."

"Oooo!" Charlie lit up, and gave him an extra hug for good measure. "Glad I could help! And if you do it, I want to hear all about it, okay?"

"Oh, you'll definitely hear all about it," Anders promised, swinging her around in a circle because whee. "And you'll get half the credit, even."

Giggling as she swung around, Charlie said, "Yaaay! And if I can help? Find me! I want to do something!"

"Like I'd deny you the chance to get in on the fun?" asked Anders as he finally put her down. "You're not a bad shot yourself, you know."

"Aww, thanks. And I don't even cheat in that class. But for Umbridge? I *so* would." Charlie said, wiggling her fingers to indicate her telekinesis. "No shot would miss!"

Anders grinned broadly. "I won't tell, promise. This could be really therapeutic."

Charlie giggled and gave Anders another quick hug. "Okay, I have to get into work, I don't want to be late. But you know where to find me to do this!"

"The place with the CDs and the kittens, yup," Anders confirmed, flashing her a thumbs-up. "Go on, earn your paycheck. And play some rebellious stuff for me!"
