First floor garage, Tuesday evening

Jaina wasn't so good with being bored, which was why she had a project. After a not-so-quick yet handwavey trip to the junkyard to see what she could scavenge, she set up shop (so to speak) in the garage, where she didn't have to worry about being messy or getting in Inara's way, and could take up as much room as she wanted while sticking lots of pieces of metal together.

Hard at work and yet distractable.

A woman after his own heart! John being so fond of high speeds and all. He happy grin maintained as he gunned the alien engine, making it whir pleasantly. "That's the spirit. Do you get to ride these much at home?"

"Mostly only on vacations, when those happen," she said. "Okay. Ready when you are."

John sped the swoop bike down the main road. He was going as fast as he deemed safe, which was probably faster than most people would think was safe, though Jaina was free to voice her own opinion. "Big family vacations?" he asked.

Jaina was kind of loving it, actually, though she did tighten her grip on him a little to keep herself from sliding on the seat. "Not really," she said, hoping she could be heard okay while on a speeding swoop bike. "We got split up more times than not. So tecnically not family vacations."

"Gotcha," John said, understanding strange family stuff or so it's generally assumed. He maneuvered through town rapidly given the size of the town and the speed of the swoop bike.

"This as fast as you can take it?" she asked him, though this was plenty fast.

"I can go faster if you're sure you can handle it," John teased.

"I can," she said confidently. She would probably still have wobbly legs after this, though.

John barely waited for her response before going full throttle. This could be considered breakneck speeds, except we know his neck was intact due to the audible whoop of joy issuing from his mouth.

That would have been a happy squeal from behind him, yes. That happened when your stomach did that flippy thing at high speeds. It was a good thing in her book.

Slowing down as they approached the beach, John remarked, "Sounded like you enjoyed the ride?"

"Oh, you know," she said, verbally waving it off and ruining it by smiling, "it was all right."

Grinning back at her, he steered the bike to hover over the sand. "Just all right? We were going some random high speed for a swoop bike, that's as close to flying as you can get for a land vehicle!"

"Should I upgrade it to good? I think I can make that concession," she said, and more seriously, "Thanks."

"Good is much better," John replied in a mock gracious tone. "And, you're welcome. It was fun," he added, seriously.

"If I ever manage to get something flyable while I'm here, I'll pay you back," she promised.
