Second Floor Common Room - Tuesday Night

Meg was bored. Bored, bored, bored. She was far too used to having class five days a week. She had on her pj's (a green tank top and Neptune High cheerleader shorts) and was lounging on the couch. One leg was laid out in front of her and the other was hanging off the side of the couch. Not the most lady-like of poses, but she was feeling lazy. She was flipping through the channels, hoping there was something decent on.

"Oooh! Blue Planet!"

[Tis open...yo]

"Person." Anemone acknowledged him with a half-wave as she watched the television. "We have fishies."

"Hello, person I don't know," Anders replied. "And very colorful fishies they are."

"I'm beginning to think this school deliberately invents new people, just to keep us off-guard. Pops them out of the ether just for giggles. Every time you think you've seen everyone, someone else steals the remote. It's a conspiracy," she replied seriously. "And I'm Anemone."

"Nice name," Anders said, unable to keep the hint of a smile from twitching at the corners of his lips, because hey, that conspiracy theory could be right on. "Nice to meet you, Anemone. I'm Sam Anders."

"Thanks, I'm rather fond of it. Go ahead and make the plant jokes if you need to, I'm getting used to them." Anemone adjusted her position on the floor to grin at him. "Although I will never get used to the idea of an anemone being an aquatic animal. Aquatic? I mean really. This planet is weird."

Anders perked up a bit at that. "You're not from here either? Cool. I didn't know an anemone was an aquatic animal either, actually, so you're safe there."

"Oh please please please tell me you aren't from this planet!" Anemone turned the puppy eyes on him to full effect. "I don't understand their computers, and they use funny words, and I still don't understand their newsfeeds half the time. My encyclopedia is only helpful with the basics, I give up on the culture, I really do."

"Nope, not from this planet," Anders assured her. "Hell, people where I'm from think Earth is a legend or something. You get used to it, I promise, but then again stuff on Caprica's pretty close to what it's like here. If you need any help . . ."

"That's part of the problem. Everything's so close, but it's not quite right. So it really throws me off when it's different," she explained as she tapped her fingers against the floor. "If I get too lost, I might take you up on that offer. I had a pop culture tutor, but he had to go and graduate and move and something stupid like that."

"Something stupid," agreed Anders, thinking of a couple of people who'd had to graduate and move away too. "Seriously, it's an open offer. I figure I understand what it's like to be thrown off just enough to be confused, but I'm familiar with stuff by now. I'm right down the hall in 227, and I work at Caritas on Thursday nights now, so that's usually where I'll be."

"We're floor buddies! I'm in 202," she explained as she pointed vaguely towards the door. "Caritas? That's where I met my last tutor. I'll have to come by and pester you sometime. I need to work on this whole 'being social' thing anyway. I spent far too much time in my room lately."
