Second Floor Common Room - Tuesday Night

Meg was bored. Bored, bored, bored. She was far too used to having class five days a week. She had on her pj's (a green tank top and Neptune High cheerleader shorts) and was lounging on the couch. One leg was laid out in front of her and the other was hanging off the side of the couch. Not the most lady-like of poses, but she was feeling lazy. She was flipping through the channels, hoping there was something decent on.

"Oooh! Blue Planet!"

[Tis open...yo]

Hoshi hasn't seen anyone flying on their own yet so she was a little puzzled, but she didn't comment. "No, I don't think I'd be the pilot. But I'm really good with languages and I'd make a great translator."

"There's always a need for those," Charlie admitted. "Communications officer, or diplomat, then. How many do you speak now? I'm stuck at English, but I was thinking of taking Spanish, or maybe the Japanese course, if it's offered again next semester. The teacher's nice."

"I can speak nearly every language from Earth in my time," explained. "So that's English, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Swedish, and so on. Right now I'm looking for more unique languages, things that aren't be spoken anymore or are more obscure. I met another student who is teaching me to speak frog."

Charlie's eyes got even wider, and she shook her head, impressed. "Okay, I think you're a shoo-in for that spaceship assignment, but I don't know how common that level of expertise is in your century. So you met Robin, right? Did you meet Mikey or Ralph yet? Although, I don't know if they speak anything but English, come to think of it."

"Even in my century, I'm a bit of an exception," said Hoshi. "Yes, Robin is the one teaching me to speak frog, but I haven't met the other two yet."

"Then yay, and here's hoping you get that posting. Mikey and Donnie and Ralph are brothers. Giant turtles," Charlie explained. "Although they're from New York city, nowhere more exotic. They may not speak Turtle, or anything. Oh! My roommate can talk to our fridge!"

"Giant turtles?" asked Hoshi. "Then I definitely need to meed them. Who's your roommate?"

"Carmela Rodriguez," Charlie said. "She talks to the TV set too. The Speech, that's what she calls it. It's great when you need the microwave to do one stupid thing right. And there's a lot of... different people here. Too bad Animal left. Although, I'm not sure he was sane. But he communicated pretty well with throwing things, so..." She grinned. "People here kind of go across the spectrum of odd, but they're mostly really cool."

[identity profile] itsjustlanguage.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I've met Carmela," said Hoshi. "I heard her talk to the TV."

"Pretty cool, hunh?" Charlie shook her head. "So what classes are you taking?"

[identity profile] itsjustlanguage.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Keeping Your Wits and Communication, which I like," said Hoshi. "Then there's Fandom's Next Top Model, which I'm not crazy about, and Love Smart, which I was trying to get out of until Professor Stinson made me his TA."

[identity profile] girlzippo.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Ooo. Those all sound cooler than math and Debate. Although I'm liking Debate. Wait, why did you want to get out of it? And what do you have to do as TA?"

[and I crash yet again... back tomorrow!]

"It wasn't challenging enough for me, but as TA I get to help with extra research," explained Hoshi. "I'm not sure what kind of research he was talking about, but I guess I will find out in class on Friday."
