Fifth Floor Common Room: Monday Afternoon

It was an exciting Monday afternoon in the common room. There was a Space Battles marathon on the movie channel and absolutely no classes to worry about.

Andrew and John were sitting on the sofa, engrossed in the program. And probably geeking out a little. "Dude, Hanno totally shot first, I hate when they show the special edition," John complained. Okay, a lot.

"And this is going to be one of the better excuses I come up with," he said, pulling the phone away, but leaving an arm around her.

Pam raised an eyebrow, smiling like a dork. "That doesn't instill me with a bunch of confidence about these excuses."

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well you already know what's going on, so why should I try very hard with the excuses?"

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Um, taking pride in your workmanship," she suggested, as though it was very obvious.

"I save that for the pranks and mocking," Jim said. "General lies mean nothing to me."

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, well all the bad lies in the world aren't going to change the fact that I'm going to change that score," Pam replied, patting his leg consolingly.

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Not if I don't let you," Jim said.

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sneaky. I'll manage it," she replied.

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I don't think you will," Jim said, sliding the phone back into his pocket. "Maybe if I didn't know to be on guard, but..."

"I'll have to lure you into a false sense of security," she replied, and suddenly her head was just so very hard to hold up. The obvious solution was to rest it against his shoulder.

"I'll get a padlock for my pocket if I need to," Jim said, sliding down on the couch a little so his shoulder would be in a slightly more comfortable position for her.

"Awful lot of trouble to go to just to preserve the score. Almost like you're really worried I'm going to beat it," Pam pointed out, smiling a nestling her head a little more firmly.

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course I'm worried you're going to beat it. You're freakishly good at Tetris," Jim said.

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know if I'd say I'm freakishly good."

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
"You have the kind of talent at Tetris that frightens small children and makes them play Scrabble instead because they will never be as good as you," Jim said. "It's amazing skill."

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm helping build tiny minds," she said solemnly. "This way, they learn to spell rather than play with blocks."

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"What about blocks with letters on them?" Jim asked.

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Those aren't as effective," she replied.

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Scrabble is nothing but flatter blocks with letters on them," Jim pointed out.

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"You're the one who said Scrabble," she pointed out.

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm a fan of blocks of all sorts," Jim admitted.

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
"What about like, dominoes?" she wondered, reaching to play with his free hand. "Or other novelty blocks."

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I appreciate all of them," Jim said, giving his hand to Pam.

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
"And of course, you know what the ultimate form of blocks is."

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-10-16 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I actually do not. What kind?" Jim asked.
