The Roof; Tuesday Morning.
The visit from the nervous artist kid the other day lead Adah to a startling realization, even if yesterday had proved it false. That only really provided that because it was quiet yesterday, it would be the opposite today, and, if she didn't want to be found, then why was she sequestering herself in the one place that anyone with half a brain would think to search for her? She should be hiding herself in the most unlikely of spots, the sort of place no one would think to find her, really. Even at the sacrifice of physical health. Because what was physical health, anyway? Certainly nothing she had ever been familiar with or ever expected to be familiar with, especially at the sake of her mental health, which she thought was very well in tact and treasured quite greatly.
Besides, it was a quiet morning with everyone below her probably still sleeping in due to the break from classes, although the cold of the coming winter was creeping in and worrying her that Virginia might still be too far north for what she grew up with, definately too north for what she'd become accustomed to. But, if she looked up at the clouds a little, so dull and boring compared to those orange and red clouds of dust of Kilanga, she felt a little bit calm, as if she could dull herself to blend with them and forget the pain from the journey up here. It was nice. It was worth it, assuming it stayed that way.

Everything was quiet as she walked out, bundled in a thick blanket with just slippers on her feet. Annette didn't notice Adah yet, her gaze was focused on the edge of the roof and she walked close to it, peering out over across the school grounds that were covered in a fine sheen of mist. And if she did notice Adah, she might turn around and leave. For some reason that girl seemed to not like her very much. It was just the look in her eyes that said so, even though Annette had been nothing but nice to her. An odd girl, but a very curious one.

And then... there were other things as well. Beauty, A.J.; she was friends with both though it seemed awkward, forced. She didn't like that and she knew that Beauty would want to talk to her privately, especially after their last conversation. Annette wasn't sure she was looking forward to that. She thought that anything she told Beauty, would somehow bounce back to A.J and the last thing she wanted was to cause a rift in their friendship, such as it was.
Annette's shoulders shook slightly and she curled her blanket up against her face, wiping at the stupid tears that she hadn't even realized she'd been crying.
Then she turned... and that's when she saw Adah.

Why was Adah there, laying so soundly, so... stiffly, seemingly unaffected by her presence or anything else surrounding her. Often, when Annette had been around the girl, she wondered at her thoughts and what little fantasy land she was in while thinking those thoughts. Other times Annette knew that if looks could kill, she'd drop to the ground, dead. Like at Homecoming. She'd never encountered anyone like Adah before and while feeling standoffish, she was drawn to her in an unexplainable way. She wanted to admit that the no talking was just a thing, that Adah didn't speak because she didn't want to. It was strange...the whole situation.
Annette leaned her back against the edge of the roof, curled in her blanket and looking from Adah to the clouds above.

Tears fell once more and she brushed at them, muttering under her breath about how silly she was being. Dick would probably roll his eyes at her and she conentrated on that thought now to clear her mind of troubles that weren't really troubles at all if she had been thinking positively enough.

Nor did she particularly want to deal with someone else's problems infringing on her own ruminations. She cleared her throat, a hoarse, weaker-than-expected sound that tickled her trachea, to let the girl know that, hey, Adah was here first; if she wanted to go be all depressed and sniffly, find her own damn spot.

But at the door, she looked over her shoulder at her and couldn't help but say something to her. "No matter what you might think, or how you might act through those cold eyes of yours, you are not alone here. There are other people with thoughts and feelings and this is a good place to contemplate. I wasn't bothering you; I didn't even try to speak to you. What is wrong with you that you have to be so critical in shunning me? I've been nice to you - do you not remember meeting me?" She chuckled humorlessly. "No, don't answer that, I know you won't anyway. But next time, Adah, I won't be so quick to leave." Annette turned and left, not sure whether or not she felt justified in saying anything to the other girl at all.

...Hey. She didn't say anything. No one told the other girl she had to leave; it was all entirely what she chose to assume. Adah sighed, though content, and turned her eyes back to the clouds.

He looked up at the clouds, then gave Adah a small smile. "Maybe it'll rain," he said softly.

Being a Jedi in training, it might've meant disappearing entirely from Adah's mind for a moment or two.
