Second Floor Common Room: Monday Afternoon
Valentine had a Really Useful Book. Unfortunately, the fact that its only page was a snippet about remembering the things one's mother had said made the aforementioned Really Useful Book... somewhat less than useful. This had to be rectified. It was high time the book got some new pages.
Therefore, Valentine was flipping through television stations, listening to snippets from daytime soaps and trying to pick out anything that might be considered good advice. Clearly, he needed some assistance. The book was looking scared.

She blinked before breaking into a grin. "Valentine!?"

Whatever the case might have been, he found himself grinning back.
"Person! Who... I should know?"

"To the extent of my knowledge, I've been eighteen since February, and I've been me my entire life. Should I be otherwise?"

This, of course, necessitated Valentine catching it and staring at the man.
...
And then throwing the remote control back at him. Because it really seemed the thing to do at the time.
"What the bloody hell was that for?!"

"Life has been--" Valentine paused and leaned forward to scrutinize the man standing before him. "Decidedly more short than yours has been at this point, I imagine? As I haven't graduated yet, and whoever you are, you seem to have been there, and done that?"

"That's a non-whip, low fat soy latte. You know, if you can't even keep the order right, I'm not certain that I should consider promoting you to my personal assistant and possibly even my co-director."
He was grinning rather broadly, now.

"A familiar face! And one that can juggle! Always a good combination!"
The Really Useful Book did not think that this statement would make a good page of advice.

"That would be because I am still the same," he informed grown-up student number nine-thousand. "Everyone else seems to have grown older and gone on and graduated without me."
He stared at this individual for a few moments. Nope. Recognizing faces he knew was difficult enough, placing them twenty years older was never going to happen.
"You'll have to help me out some," he said at last. "Your face is a little beyond me."

Mostly.
"Aww, come on Valentine! It's me! Sora!"
no subject
"Oh, of course, Sora. How in the world did I not recognize you? You've become so..."
There had to be a word here for this. Somewhere. Really.
"Sora. Ish. Really."

no subject
"Only if you've missed the fact that about ninety percent of the people in here are alumni of twenty years or so," he observed dryly. "Or are you one, as well?"
One could never be too sure.
