The gym [Tuesday evening]

Luke was feeling a little penned in, so he trotted down to the gym and got to work on the punching bag.

For a guy who didn't look like someone who'd enjoy a fight, he certainly knew what he was doing.

Cassandra had wandered into the gym mostly because she didn't have anything else to occupy her time. She watched Luke from the doorway, willing to observe until he noticed her.

Which didn't take long, Jedi reflexes being what they were. He looked up with a smile. "Did you want to use this?" he asked politely.

She shook her head, "Just... watching." Then, "You're pretty good."

"Thanks," Luke said with a grin. "I'm normally working with a weapon, but in the real world, that can change in a heartbeat, so hand-to-hand is important, too." He ran his hand through sweat-curled hair. "At least that's what my teachers always said."

"They're right," Cassandra nodded. "Or you might be attacked in your sleep or something." Her dad had thought that was an excellent teaching technique.

"At home I got used to sleeping with my lightsaber under my bedroll," he said, "but I'm not about to bring down the wrath of Principal Washburn when it isn't necessary."

Or his father. Not that he'd say that.

"That's a smart thing to do," Cassandra laughed. "Do you get attacked much during your sleep then?"

"It's been known to happen," Luke said, nodding.

Yoda was old, but he was sneaky.

"A Jedi should never be off his guard," he said, then made a "blah, blah, blah" motion with his hand.

Cassandra laughed again, "My dad never said it like that, but he definitely believed it."

Adam had felt like getting a workout in, so down to the gym he went. Not expecting to see anyone there, he stopped short upon spotting Luke.

Watching Luke, Adam smiled. He was good.

Luke smiled back. "Hi! Did you need the bag?"

"Hey, Luke," Adam grinned, shaking his head. "No, I was going to get some staff work in. Thanks, though," he nodded. "You have good form."

"Thanks," Luke replied. "I learned a lot of it from Aeryn Sun last year. She wasn't the kind of person you slacked off against."

"You're welcome," Adam nodded. "Oh no?"

Luke chuckled. "She'd grown up as a soldier, so...no."

"Ahh," Adam understood. "Sounds about right, then," he chuckled.

"So, staff work?" Luke said, sounding interested. "I've only used them as a substitute for the lightsaber. How's it supposed to work?"

Ino didn't really like being inside when she trained but with the temperature being what it was... the gym was probably a smarter place to be than up on the roof. She didn't want to get sick.

She paused at seeing someone else already there, then smiled and shrugged - it was no big deal really. "Good evening." Ino offered, slipping in so she could start stretching.

"Good evening," Luke said with a bright smile. "I'm not interrupting anything, right?"

Ino grinned at him, pausing halfway through a stretch, "Nope! Not unless you mind me here, because really, I interrupted you."

"Not at all!" Luke said quickly. "If I wanted to be alone, I would've faced the cold outside."

"I considered the roof," she admitted, "I don't really like training inside, but I don't feel like chancing a cold tonight."

"I spent six months learning in a swamp, so I understand the instinct," Luke replied.

"In a swamp?" Blink. "Like, actually living there?" She supposed it would be a good place for training, but ugh. Swamp.

"Not my choice," Luke said, making a face, "at all. There were bugs big enough to fly around on, I swear." He shrugged. "But I come from the desert. Humidity isn't exactly my friend."
