Third Floor Common Room [evening]

Evey had found her room with little difficulty, and after tossing her bag towards one of the (thank heaven) two beds, she'd memorized where she'd be returning and wandered out to see what she might find.

And naturally, the there was the common room on her floor, with a television (granted, much older than she was accustomed to, but it would do.) And where there was a television, there was news, and ways to catch up with the fact that she was twenty years in the past.

As a result, Evey was curled up on the couch, quietly flipping through channels and trying to acquaint herself with a world that seemed somewhat different from her history lessons. Perhaps her memory was just a touch fuzzy.

[open! come watch TV yay!]

"Another dimension," Seregil said. "I've been living in the city of Rhiminee, in Skala."

Amber was sure her brain was going to explode before she went to bed. "That sounds so sci-fi," she said. "By dimension, do you mean planet?"

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not entirely certain," Seregil admitted. "It's a place you can only reach from here by magic portal."

"I'm learnin' this Fandom place holds many different people from many different places. Do you know I talked to a frog today? I'm still thinkin' someone was just messin' around with me." Amber said thoughtfully.

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I've never talked to a frog, but I've talked to a dragon," Seregil offered. "That was back home though."

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
"A real dragon? The fire breathing kind?" Ooooh, Amber bet he could tell some great stories!

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Some of the really large ones can work magic with fire," Seregil said. "They're the ones that can talk to. The small ones are... not as smart."

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"This is so hard to believe. I mean I come from a small town where the excitement is when a swan float get's blown up. 'Course Becky Leeman was on it..." Amber trailed off about that because she was sure he wasn't interested in someone getting blown up. "But listening to you is like readin' a book. Makes me want to dip right into the pages," she grinned.

"I know a lot of stories," Seregil offered with a charming smile.

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe if you're a storyteller, I could sit and listen sometime," she said, smiling.

"I've done some turns as a bard," Seregil said.

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Too bad there's not a campfire around," she said. "Stories are best told around a campfire."

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
"And I bet you look lovely in firelight."

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Amber blushed and reached a hand up to her warm cheek. "Oh, I don't know about that. I have to wear a lot of bug repellent," she mumbled. She was not used to being flirted with. If he was flirting. It sounded an awful lot like flirting.

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"There's spells and charms that can help with that," Seregil said (who was definitely flirting). "Or there's such a thing as an indoor fire. Or, in a pinch, candlelight."

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Where I'm from, spells and charms just aren't readily available," she said, still blushing. He was really nice looking and guys just didn't particularly pay a whole lot of attention to Amber. Unless she counted Brett Clemmens. But he was dead so... "I enjoy fireplaces too, and candlelight though aside from lightin' candles during holidays, I just don't use them. I have no reason, really."

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
"We don't have... electricity? where I'm from so firelight and candleight are pretty much a staple."

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
"No electricity? That's just... wow. I can't imagine livin' without electricity. It is such an essential part of my life, and life in general where I'm from."

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"We have other things though," Seregil said. "Like dragons and magic."

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, you do," she grinned, looking down, blushing. "I think it would be cool to see a dragon."

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
He wasn't used to that meaning of cool, but figured it out from the context. "When the big ones take flight," he said, voice slightly husky with memory, "there's nothing like it."

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Amber stared at him, trying to imagine it. "Sounds like a fairytale."
