4th floor common room, Saturday afternoon-evening-night (1/5/08)

After labeling and putting away all of his groceries (not that he didn't trust Michaelangelo; it was the police cadet in him), Sky had decided to seat himself in the common area rather than shut himself up in his room. His only company at the moment was a bowl of freshly-popped popcorn, the precious Grape Judas Squishy he had purchased earlier from Turtle & Canary, and the Fandom High manual, which he was in the process of memorizing back-to-front. He thought about bringing out his CD player or turning the TV on, but decided he liked peace and quiet better.

And anyway, he had a feeling "peace and quiet" didn't last too long around Fandom.

"Thanks," Sky replied, then looked a little sad when he thought of S.P.D. As much as he liked to think he'd be prepared for anything, he was feeling a little homesick by now. "It is exciting," he said. "And a little unexpected, but not as much as this place has been so far. I've been training in space for the past few years, though I'm not of a high enough rank to do many exciting things yet."

Ah, so this was one of the people from space like Zuko had mentioned. Makoto still wasn't sure what to think about that idea so he merely said, "Rank comes with age though, I'm sure more exciting things will come your way."

"I hope so, too," said Sky. "I actually thought I was going to advance in rank before I came here. I got told I'm an overachiever." He snorted. "So I got sent away for a while to get some non-police education."

"You got sent here because you were doing too well in the training?" Makoto shook his head, "A well-rounded education is a good thing, but that thinking seems somewhat flawed. Unless, I suppose you could think of it as an opportunity you only got because you were so good?"

"I do like to think it was that," Sky agreed. "Any way I can be the best cadet I can is good with me, so even though I've got some reservations about this place, I'll deal with it. Maybe even come out even better than I was before."

"And you might start to like this place," Makoto said, "I certainly hope I do."

"Mmmhmm," Sky agreed. "Like or not, I am stuck here for a while, so the way I see things, I might as well treat this as an opportunity and make the best of it. I'll only be miserable if I don't do that."
