Third Floor Common Room, Saturday Morning

After waking up with an annoying back ache, Lucas padded out to the common room to see if there was anything decent to eat. He made himself some cereal and spread out on the couch, whining something about cocoa puffs and how no one could possibly feel his pain.

He turned the TV on. Maybe some sappy movies would make him feel better.

[ooc: open! mmmm, boys with girl pain! *is cruel*]

"Hey," Alex smiled. Cute boy alert. "You okay?"

"I'm okay," Lucas said, sighing because he was obviously not okay. "Just feeling a little down. There were no cocoa puffs. I had to eat cocoa krispies."

Alex had a feeling he really wasn't okay. The sigh only helped reinforce her guess. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," and really, she was. She didn't like seeing people feeling sad.

Lucas decided she would be sympathetic to his plight, "Do you think it's asking too much that when someone finishes the cocoa puffs they could restock it for the rest of us?"

"No, it's not," Alex shook her head. "I think it's only fair that they could get another box," she admitted.

Hey, it was how things worked in her house back home. It made sense to her.

"Thank you!" Lucas said, feeling much appeased as he tossed his bowl and spoon on the table and slouched back on the sofa, groaning a little in pain.

Alex couldn't help but smile a bit at that. "You need anything?" She'd noticed the bought of pain and couldn't help but wince slightly.

"I don't know, my back is giving me fits this morning," he said, leaning forward to rub the affected area. "I haven't even done anything that would aggravate it. Know anything that could help?"

"Ouch," Alex knew what that felt like. "Actually, I've got some heating pads back in my room that are specifically for back pain. Would you like me to get you one?"

"Really?" Lucas couldn't believe his luck. "But, do you need it? I mean, do you have like chronic back pain or something?" He asked, trying to figure out why she'd have such a heating pad.

"Mmm hmm," Alex nodded, smiling. "No, I'm okay right now. Every once in a while, I'll need them," she admitted. "But, I feel fine at the moment. Be right back."

Alex was away only a few minutes before she came back with a heating pad in hand. "Here you go."

"Thanks, that's real sweet of you," Lucas smiled, accepting the heating pad and sticking it behind his back. "I sure hope this does the trick."

"You know, I realize when you walked in on my diatribe, I failed to introduce myself. Is it too late?"

"You're welcome," Alex smiled, shaking her head. "Just helping out a friend," she brushed it off, blushing slightly. "It should. Or at least, I'm hoping so."

She shook her head, still smiling. "No it's not, it's okay, really. I'm Alex."

"Well, Alex, I'm Lucas - or more accurately, whatever's left of me," he told her, starting to feel the heat working its magic. "You know, I think I could die happy with this heating pad. Hmm, and maybe a chocolate cake."

"It's nice to meet you, Lucas," Alex smiled softly, wondering what had happened to him. "I'm glad to hear that. Oh, well, unfortunately, I don't have a chocolate cake lying around."

She kind of wanted chocolate cake now too. Damn.

"Maybe if we wish really really hard a chocolate cake will appear?" he offered, because it wasn't like he was going to go get one or make one himself.

"It's worth a shot," Alex shrugged, knowing stranger things that had happened.
