The Pool, Thursday Night

Andrew had heard that there was a pool in the basement, but, not being much of a swimmer, he had never really been to see it. So armed with a towel, some water wings, and a big pink styrofoam noodle, he embarked on a quest.

It was a short quest, as the way to the pool was pretty clearly marked, and he was pleasantly surprised to find the water warm upon dipping his toe into it.

Floating there was nice. He could almost convince himself it didn't feel like like the weight of the world was pressing firmly down on his shoulders. Plus, when he slapped his palms down on the water, it made a really cool plunking sound.

[ooc: the pool is open!]

John had no good reason to be at the pool, yet there he was. "Nice night for a float?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Are you trying to drown yourself?" John asked, sitting at the edge of the pool and taking off his shoes so he could stick his feet in the water.

Romeo grinned at John from his spot sitting on the floor of the shallow end. "Good e'en, cos, you failed to tell me we could swim here."

"Did I mention I'm generally a failure as a fake brother?" John replied. "Do you know about chocolate? I got in trouble for that last time."
withoutverona: (suspicious)

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-01-25 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
"I am in one piece, you are a fine brother," Romeo decided, then gave John an amused look. "And aye, I have had chocolate, though it saddens me your last sibling had been so deprived."

In her continuing reconnaissance of Fandom, Triela was bound to find the pool at some point. It was just Andrew's luck that she did it while he was there.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Good evening," she calls cheerfully. "I didn't know there was a pool down here."
withoutverona: (romeo romeo!)

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-01-25 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Lazily, Romeo waved toward the blonde girl. "Greetings, fair one."

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Greetings yourself," she turned with a laugh and a small blush.

Romeo had absolutely no reason to even know the school had a pool, really, yet he must have for there he was, in trunks and armed with a towel.

"Is the water warm?" he wondered aloud as he dipped in his toes.

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-01-25 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Romeo let himself slide the rest of the way into the water, almost bonelessly. It *was* warm, so he sat on the floor of the shallow end, letting only his head remain in the air, and let out a sigh of pleasure. "How have you been since we wrote our dirge?"

Amber had heard about a pool being in the basement, and changing into her suit and grabbing a towel, she headed on down and was pleasantly surprised to find people there.

Smiling, she walked towards the diving board.

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Grinning, she ambled up on the board and bouncing gently, did an easy dive in and came up brushing her hair back.

"Hi!" she said to Andrew. "I'm Amber Atkins."

[personal profile] withoutverona 2008-01-25 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Romeo gave Amber a rueful smile. "'Tis pleasant to see you now that I am myself again," he told the girl as he paddled toward her.

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Amber didn't get that. "Yourself again?" She was kinda slow on the radio broadcasts and all that. "Frank or Romeo?" Amber wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.

Keeping her nocturnal adventures to the realm of the indoors today, in an almost prideful (to maintain the topic of today's class, of course, and revel in the fact that it was her favorite) to get better at mastering the stairs, Adah had bothered to risk the ones that would lead her down, down, down into the basement of the dormitory. Her head, filled with too much Poe and too much boredom, had been filled with fanciful ideas, particularly ones of enemies bricked up to die in madness and starvation in the bowels of the building, only to be dashed across the wall like a smattering of blood from a headwound when she found that the area beneath where they slept was not filled with potential beating hearts long since detatched from chests, but of a swimming pool, well kept, reeking of chlorine...

...and rather full of people. She blinked, leaning against the entryway, watching, waiting which would be the first idiot to suggest she come join them for a little swim.

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Adah, briefly, acknowledge the nod with nothing more but a slightly linger, mostly dull glance toward Andrew. To be honest, those ripples in the water were more interesting, and her eyes drifted away from him towards them, her own head making small bobs as she counted them, counted the time it took one of the light swells to make it until it was interrupted by another one, killed by another, joined with another one and changed direction. The chlorine stung both her eyes and her nostrils, a far step from the muddy, forsaken waters of the Kwilu. Her head tilted thoughtfully but she remained quiet where she was.

Romeo would not be that idiot, but he did pause in some aquatic acrobatics long enough to register Adah's presence and wave in her general direction.

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Which was fine; Adah was patient, and she knew that idiot would probably come around eventually. With everything it took out of her to get there and for what it was worth, she planned on not going anywhere for a while. After catching the wave from Romeo, Adah tilted her head slightly, eyes settling quietly on him as if taking a moment to access the aquatic acrobatics he had recently ceased. She didn't raise her hand in a wave back; she actually didn't do much beyond that glance in response but, if he was paying attention, if the chemicals of the water hadn't stung his eyes too bad, he would notice a short, brief, jerking inclination of her chin in silent acknowledgment, in wordless, nearly motionless greeting.
